This year I'm making an attempt to use JRiver for all the demo material. I just recently re-purposed my 5-year old PC for a HTPC, but I did get a better video card for it plus 4TB of storage for a start. I'm not a movie or music buff like some of you, so my collection is fairly small.
What would really help me out is if you folks would chime in with some good demo material, both music and movies. Coming up with good demo material, for music specifically, has always been a struggle for me. Besides really heavy bass/techo/dubstep, I have practically nothing.
I did recently buy this based off Jeff's recommendation, so I'm sure it'll have some good stuff on it:
- I know your a huge metal fan, so in case you and some of the other KC crew make it up, do you have any favorites that you use to demo with? The only metal I have is the 1991 Metallica album, and the Through the Never blu-ray.
- you have to have tons of stuff, so help a brother out
- you were a big help for our GTG last year by providing a bunch of info on the material used at some GTGs out east. Any new favorites you care to share?
I'm willing to buy whatever, so don't be shy!
We're probably going to setup the JTR 210RT speakers upstairs since my theater has limited seating space and we'll have to do demo's in waves. The first ~2 hours I'm planning on running my new mega mains solo without subs, so the focus will be music. With just the mains running, they should be capable of near 130db from 25hz and up...
