Fort Worth and Surrounding Area (2016)...Interested

I will start this out after talking with Patzig about a gtg for the Fort Worth area.
What I am wondering about is who is interested and a somewhat time line about when.

So post away and let's get this together.
Curt

My thoughts on this GTG would be in April either the 15th, 16th or 17th.
I can hold 9 guys and maybe 12 in my room. Not a dedicated home theater but converted living room. I have 1099's with volt 10's as surrounds with 2 picowreckers, 2 sealed 18's and 2 svs 12plus subs.
I have talked with Patzig about the GTG, and I am sure he is willing to show the 1899's but he is also worried about damaging them in transport. Hmmm wonder if that has something to do with them being SO UNGODLY HUGE. But anyway if we started at my place and then traveled (could car pool) to Patzig's place if people would be up for that?

So far guys that said they would come are
bgtighe23
camouflage
Whalor
crankycowboy

I would probably make the drive to DFW if a GTG is going to take place.
Assuming those 1899s will be there

There should be a date(s) - vote on a weekend that most people are free)) set enough in the future people are able to make plans around the GTG, but not so far that people forget or loose interest.

I have some family that lives just east of DFW. No particular weekend interests me more than the other.

I think it would be fun to come up and chat with the local group there. I've been as far a KC a couple of times and obviously the events here in Houston so it would be an easy trip.

keep us posted!!

Fort Worth and Surrounding Area (2016)...Interested

I'm in Mesquite but am willing to drive for a meetup. Also willing to bring my studio 20s if anyone ever wants to do a listening GTG.

I am close to Saginaw, so North Fort Worth, about 20 mins from stockyards or downtown.
Would sometime in April, May be good or sooner than that?

I would also gather a list of forum members and speakers that can make it and start that list in the first post.
That way we can follow along and not get jumbled up on who is coming, the number of people, and who can bring what speaker.

Has a place/house/room been picked out for this?

I'm just in the planning stages of my theater, so I don't have much to offer in terms of speakers or a location (yet), but I'm certainly interested in a GTG, and also getting to know some of you guys...

I'd be interested if there was a GTG. I'm up near Argyle. Weekends work best for me. Don't have too much that I can drag out of my HT, as it's on the second floor and everything weighs a ton, but I do have some Chane's A1's that are easy to haul around and every HT demo disk that has been made on AVS.

The guys in KC get the ID (JTR, Seaton, ect) companies to bring or ship something in for demo. In Houston, we just go check out someone's equipment in their theater. I enjoy both as its a chance to get together and talk shop. It doesn't have to be a big production to get me to show up. I'm interested in all levels of equipment and meeting a fellow AVSer.

Sorry for the long delay. Had moved my mother from Florida to an assisted living in Fort Worth and that didn't go as planned, then lost my control board for my gate operator twice in a month , then convention. I am back and things I hope have settled down so can start to plan on a date for this to happen.

How does June sound? Beginning of month, middle, end? Throw some dates out.

I can make up some pulled pork and have cold beverages. Soda, beer Tea?

What would be the ideal things to listen or watch for everyone? I am set up more for movie watching and don't really have a large collection of music. I have no cd player or bluray player since everything I have is stored on my servers and I run everything through my htpc with Kodi as my front end.

I have 1099's and could possibly have some Ascend Sierra Towers with Raal here also.
Throw out some ideas.

Your receiver has a usb input? I have my favorites that I leave on a usb. It has personal favorites, and a few that I use for comparing speakers and testing subs.

I can possibly bring some Motion 60XTs.

My receiver does have a USB but my HTPC has more , I think 6. For sure bring your favs and/or anything other material you feel would be of interest to everyone.

June would work, any weekend, probably a Saturday would work best. I have all the demo disks on BD and a few from CES and an old spare Oppo 83 if needed. As mentioned I can't really bring much in the line of equipment as everything would need 2 people to carry from 2nd level. I do have a set of Chane bookshelves if anyone is interested.

Chayne.

Just found this and I am in as well for a June time-frame. I have been meaning to take up Curt (@BCRSS) on his kind invitation for over a year now (kids are hell on hobbies) to check out his 1099's.

What's the format? One place and people bring what they want to compare? I have some interesting offerings that I can bring that I would love to hear up against some of the DIY gear floating around.

I am definitely more interested in movies but I know music is usually how most compare speakers. I have a rather large CD library that I have ripped into lossless FLAC format. I can bring a bunch stuff over on a drive but I honestly wouldn't know what type of music to bring or how good the recordings are.
