Scott will be auctioning off some of his post count to other attendees to help pay for the flight. He has about 15,000 posts to distribute.

Also, I will not be offended if anyone doesn't want to come to my theater. It doesn't have 130db of bass nor Atmos. But if you are interested in HTPC, diysoundgroup Cinema 8 speakers, a modest NF sub build and a giant rear projection system, then come on down. Before February, I'll post more pics of my room and setup so that people can make an educated decision. There's a lot of theaters to see in KC and we are spread out from each other. So you may want to tackle this crawl like a trip to CES.

Don't sell yourself short! I haven't seen your setup yet, but I really want to because Jonathan raves about how bright your RP setup is. Like a massive plasma he says!!

Any family in town (her parents or your parents)? I have managed to talked my wife doing something with the kids out of the house and then taking them over to her parents Saturday night to spend the night, so I'll owe her one for sure. It's nice that it's so far away which makes her more agreeable to do it. Any chance of doing something like that?

Posting to up my post count.

Not sure I am allowed to host anymore with the 5k count!!!

I'm kidding! I love Archs idea actually. "Theoretically" that means the people with the longest history (not saying knowledge!) would all be in 1 group. So they would have more history, even if only reading, on various techs such as subs, drivers, eq, video, treatments, etc.

Keeps the host from diving in too deep with individuals who are new. And can answer more experienced questions just once (unlike the fubar election ashaming the US today).

If any are bringing wives or significant others, my daughter and son-in-law have a massage and facial spa. I am talking to my daughter about a special price for those that have any interest. More as we get closer.

Due to the size of the group, having organization is key. I think you are handling it perfectly. It is going to be a great time.

@Frohlich - We are on the same kickball team!

I can bring home a bunch of dodgeballs from school if we really want to get serious (we have new balls actually, these are just the torn ones sent in for replacement. My job is hard and I have serious responsibilities).

The hosts and friendly vendors are team #4.

Torn rotator cuffs/Tommy John ligaments for all!!

All I can think of right now is the movie "Dodgeball"...

I am glad the unfriendly vendors weren't invited....could have gotten ugly..

Hahaha, well... it is soft foam inside.

Piece of crap. These things cost 28 bucks PER ball after shipping but they can't hold up the the average 8th grader arm throwing them against the wall for more than a few months. At least Gopher replaces them when they get torn. We can't use the rubber balls like they did back in our day. The children must never experience anything that isn't completely pleasant.

I love those rubber dodge balls that leave a nice red welt imprint on your face when hit. Man, our gym teacher used to let us play dodgeball most every day for a quarter of the year. (basketball, badminton, and track filled up the other 3 quarters). Dodgeball (and Pinball) were sooooooooooooo much fun in 7th and 8th grade! Sheldon, tell the truth, do you get in there and ream a kid from time to time? ohhhh I should have been a gym teacher...

Yep. Have been since the late 90's when I started teaching. I never saw them when I was in school. You can still throw them hard and they do have a nice thumb when smashing into a body, but nothing like the old school dodge balls. Many districts have banned dodgeball in their schools, it hurts the kid's self-esteem.

What's the favorite game of all 180 kids that I teach? You don't even have to guess - and it's not close.

Something on their phone/tablet, I'm sure.

Wtf?

When I was in school (probably younger than most here) I remember playgrounds getting switched to plastic and foam covered metal and woodchips on the ground instead of sand. But foam filled dodgeballs? Doesn't surprise me, actually.

I'm not mad. Just disappointed.

February 2017 - Kansas City Home Theater Crawl

Might have to slide me to the D list. So far in the last 30 days I have fried an hs24 because of junk that was crammed against the cone and the near wall, one channel of my fp14000 clone hooked to a GHorn died on startup 2 weeks later, and found out yesterday that my other hs24 is dead. I have no idea how that happened since it worked fine last week. Sucks hard.

Fine...I didn't want to carpool with @dlbeck anyway! I mean we do live almost completely across the neighborhood from each other and everything...

Seriously though, I was going to see if @dlbeck and @slarity wanted to carpool together since we all 3 live in Altoona near each other...that would sort of bork up your groups though if we did since we would also need to do the same once down there or David would have to latch on with someone else once down there...

I keep confusing my intentions with my abilities.

Dude that DOES suck! I heard about the one 24"....Now both?

Sadly, with two 24's down, and 1 channel of the FP14000 clone out powering the pair of ghorns you'll still probably have the most bass at 15-20Hz.

You can borrow my CV-5000 if you need to. It's sitting unused right now. Othorns behind the couch as an alternative?

No longer a problem. Sounds as if David will be bringing his whole clan with him so no carpooling there.

I guess my concern is the interaction with those folks who would are either building now or will be building shortly (both @slarity and I are both starting pretty major builds) and those folks who have the experience/industry knowledge.

I know with our crawl, ending it with everyone at one place made for a good, solid information exchange and meet & greet.

Just throwing it out there. I know there are meals planned for some together time but I really enjoyed speaking with Jim Salk as one wood working fanatic to another. I also love harassing Jeff about how slow he is on a race bike...etc. Hehe

I keep confusing my intentions with my abilities.

When I was younger, you bet! However at 43 but still somewhat explosive I worry about things like exploding achilles tendons and pulled hamstrings.
