Hey guys, I didn't see any official GTG's coming up but I wanted to see if anyone was willing to show off their theater. I'll be in SE MI visiting the in-laws from around 10/5 to 10/10.

After nearly a decade of living in SE MI we moved to the suburbs of Atlanta almost a year ago. It's a great place to raise a family and I love the weather, but so far I've found home theater enthusiasts to be few and far between around here.

I'd really like to hear some DIYSG speakers and/or check out a dedicated room built with DD/GG, clips and channel, etc.

If the in-laws will watch our kids I may be able to convince my wife to tag along too, if that's ok.

Thanks!

I might be able to. I would have to ok it with the wife but she has clinicals on sundays and if I could get my mom to watch my son that would free up a sunday.

Don’t spoil this poor man. If he gets to see/hear your room he might go into an unrecoverable tailspin down the rabbit hole. At least warn him.

Lol...I kinda thought the same thing. If Jeremy's room is open for you to see...watch out. Welcome to the world of bass and the need for more of it!!

If you live outside of Atlanta, curious if you've ever visited Atlanta Home Theater in Roswell? My cousin owns it and I know their showroom is unbelievable. I've not been down since they opened their new store, but definitely worth a look if you ever are in the area!

Yes! Took the (then pregnant) wife and toddler there once close to closing time, so we didn't have long to wander around. We only got to watch one trailer for an animated movie (with the volume low to avoid inducing my wife into labor) and we were all still THOROUGHLY impressed. They have an incredible showroom. Please encourage your cousin to get active on this forum if he's not here already!

Oh WOW, I'm subscribed to the Cold Water Creek cinema build thread but I didn't realize it's owner was the one inviting me over! On second thought, maybe my bank account can't handle me going there, lol.

Just kidding. I hope I'm able to visit!

I've done the exact same thing when traveling to other cities around the country and have always had a warm welcome. We all share a common (expensive) interest and there's nothing like showing off to someone who has the same madness.

Well I didn't heed everyone else's warnings and just experienced the Coldwater Creek cinema this evening. I'm totally sold on the Submaximus sub design and I need a pair of them in my life, lol. If anyone else has the opportunity to visit, I'd highly encourage it, as long as you don't mind falling down the rabbit hole like me.

Thanks again, man. Truly impressive theater in every way! And again, what an inspiration to those of us trying to go the DIY route who have more passion than experience.

Thanks man yeah I love getting to show people the room and what with a moderately low budget can be achieved. I also agree 2 submaximus v3s with the eminence 21s will be awesome in your room.

The Official Michigan Home Theater Meeting Thread

When’s the next gtg?

I’ve got my HTM-12’s installed, new screen using AV Science V6 material.

I could host a ....
1) AT screen material comparison?
I’ve got the V6 screen and pieces of Seymour UF, plus DW laminate. If others have AT or solid material bring over and we could compare?
Seymour UF left, V6 right

2) HTM-12 vs? . I still need to build baffle wall for center screen, as mains are outside flanking for proper acoustic angles
3) while not Uber subs, I will finally make the LH 2 x 18” UM-18 sealed sub stack for symmetry to the RH IB sub.
I’d also still have my 2 helper subs, not sure if they will be needed or ...

Considering life, schedules, etc, I could be ready February ish?
A mid-winters gtg?

A few Photos from AT screen build / install .

I did not go wider due to room size, so went from scope 2:35 to 16:9, it’s 137” 16:9 vs the 100” using the scope screen with side masking, much more real estate for gaming / sports / non-movies.

Hangs on these at top, rest on bottom
13” off the back wall, gives 2” to speaker baffle gap, for V6 AT material

For those that MTB ride in the winter, we could have a ride before the gtg
