The Official Michigan Home Theater Meeting Thread

So me and a few members on another southest michigan ht meet thread were talking and thought it would be a good idea for someone to start a all Michigan meet page were anyone could post there g2g in.
This will cause a lot less confusion when where trying to find local meets. Avs member JK 7.2 nominated me to start this so I said why not. I know a few of us out on the east side of the state either allready have finished theaters or like me are very close to finishing. Who wants to be the first to host a g2g?

Jk7.2 02-03-2017 12:04 PM

Thanks for starting the thread! I'll post some pics from my g2g that was 6 months ago now. Wow. Where does the time go. I'll be on the list for another soon enough. I have some improvements planned, so once completed I'll host again. And post pics of your theater!

LNEWoLF 02-03-2017 12:43 PM

I posted a link in each thread to direct people here.

HD0823 just a suggestion.

You may want to edit the title to

The Official Michigan Home Theater Meeting Thread

Just to help guide people that this is the "Official Michigan Thread."

Here's a few pics of my room that will be completed soon. I just bought a umik 1 so once it's finished and everything is tweaked and sounding as good as possible I'll be hosting one

Your welcome.

I'm haven't a clue on this as I have never edited a thread title before. But I thought that the OP that's YOU :) (original poster of thread) could edit the thread title.

Ive heard some OP's state that they changed the thread title to better reflect the conversation.

Good luck.......

Thanks for getting this started! I thought about doing it when we first discussed the idea ... then I forgot. LOL!

hifibuyguy 02-03-2017 01:10 PM

Count me in to come to a gtg. I hosted one last year that I think went pretty well. I've made some changes and have a few more on the way...I might be persuaded to have one again in the fall.

Hey, its been awhile. Had a good time at your G2G last year.

Kevin4730 02-03-2017 01:36 PM

Pretty excited I'm getting a pretty good deal on a yamaha A3050 off someone on the forum. For the price I couldn't resist, but its still going in a living room setup and not a cool theater space yet. I think I'll switch from 5.1.2 to 5.1.4 though. I could have a future "help me plan my basement G2G" if anyones interested.

For some reason they make you go through a moderator to edit title but you can edit post. Had to do the same thing when I changed my theater build thread name

Awesome. When I first came to avs, I read your HT of the month thread, and it hooked me. I've wanted to see your theater since. And also thebland, he has a theater I'd love to see. You guys are my heros.

VicTorious1 02-03-2017 08:11 PM

I'm getting excited about all the theaters that will be done soon. Just ordered my Atmos speakers, grabbed a new Atmos receiver, a new projector and new oppo. Once I finish my room treatments and figure out my back row, I'll be ready to host a GTG as well.

So what projector did you end up getting the Epson 5040 or jvc rs400. So you got the oppo 203 I still haven't hooked mine up. Yeah I see a bunch of g2gs in the near future

I remember thebland saying something about hosting one last summer maybe he'll see this and be motivated to host one this year :) . His setup looks pretty ridiculous

Hey guys,

I am just starting my build. I would be up for a g2g too.

I am sure I will find plenty of inspiration that way.

This thread may be helpful to some that are not aware of it.

Last year I implemented some of the ideas discussed in the thread. I found that it improved my contrast levels with my mitz dlp rear projection.

I replaced my light filtering window blinds. With levouler room darkening blinds from lowes. They cut to fit at no additional cost.

They still allowed some light in around the gap between the window frame and the blind.

Then I added blackout curtains on the windows in addition to the darkening blinds. I also installed a set of blackout curtains that blocks any light from the hallway and kitchen area.

The room is VERY dark now with the blinds and curtains closed. I can watch a movie during the daytime. That is much darker than it was at night time before the changes.

I did this knowing that one day soon. I would be getting a projector setup.
