Don't want to share too much right now, but I'm working on buttoning a lot of things down for my GTG.

Attached is a picture of the acoustic panels that I'm making. Not a pretty picture, but you get the idea.

I am currently working on re-ripping all my blue rays. I upgraded drives so I have 14.5TB storage space now, I am hoping that is enough to cover it. MadVR is really leaning on my graphics card with full fat mkv files more than before. It might push me to upgrade sooner than anticipated. The image quality is awesome now though

I'm awaiting my warranty replacement Monoprice Monolith amp. I think I mentioned a while ago that the unit was making a humming sound when powered up.

The Monoprice people have been great to work with. I sent them an email detailing the troubleshooting I had done, they had me try a couple of other things (which I had tried, but forgot to detail in my email), and the sent the RMA info. They paid the postage both ways, and sent out a replacement unit the day the received my defective one. They even let me keep using it until new units were back in stock, even though it was beyond their normal 30-day return window. I'd have no qualms or reservations dealing with them for any future major purchases.

And I still have that fourth sub to set up.

Bryan and his friend David stopped over to Nick’s and my place to check out the JVC’s and we had a great time.

I do hope we helped make his decision to buy a JVC or not to buy a JVC NX series easier.

Regardless of the outcome, it’s always fun to meet new enthusiasts near by.

Thanks again for spending the day with us Bryan and David.

Thanks to Tony and Nick for opening their homes and their Theaters to us. They were both amazing. We really enjoyed the demos and the chats.

The JVCs are great projectors. Now when I watch my 95es I see its flaws. Now I just need to decide which JVC is for me. I also have to figure out how to up my game in my theater. Tony and Nick certainly gave me some ideas! Treatments and some improved tactile impacts are on my mind.

Thanks guys! It was a fun day!

I loved that you didn't tell David about the D-Box. It's always awesome to get peoples reactions when they dont know whats about to happen.

I think he liked it from his reaction, hopefully you did as well. I know you said you had a friend in California that has D-Box too, so I am happy you got to experience what they might have told you about D-Box prior if you had not had the opportunity to experience it at their place personally.

The D-Box was quite impressive. It really added a new dimension to the movie clips. Pretty crazy how aggressive they could get!

I did end up ordering a NX7. I think it might get here later this week. We will see.

Thanks Again!

Thanks to Bryan's visit thing have changed for me a little.

Jeff wasn't too enthusiastic that I told him I was going to install a Seaton subwoofer on the riser behind the second row. So I ended up selling my newly acquired Seaton to Bryan who will now have two Seaton Submersives rocking his home theater!

It worked out nice as it ends up being a win - win for us both.

He got a great deal on a Seaton Sub and Jeff and I worked out a plan to do two 2400ULF's for my riser. Bringing me to a total of 4 subs.

It will be a bit before I officially install them, but hopefully before the end of the year.

Now I want everyone to know Jeff did not tell me to sell the Seaton, I could just tell he was disappointed that my system was no longer going to be JTR only. So we worked it out.

I do believe with 4 subs I can focus on any remaining items going forward.

Curious minds want to see the plans! Are you replacing your riser with 2 giant subs? Somehow dropping them in and firing them up?

Just in the back corners facing forward most likely.

Tell Jeff I have four Seaton SubMersives, and would consider supplementing with JTR’s or replacing the Seaton’s if the plan was “sound”.

It is now his move...

I think you'll end up being happier with four subs than just three; you should have real smooth bass across all seven six seats. Plus you'll get a little extra of that near-field bass that you wanted for the back seats.

Nice upgrade!

I just make sure you give us locals 'first dibs' on them if you decide to sell, I'm always looking to add more bass to my room!

It is hard to do that as any potential mention of something for sale gets deleted.

Other than something like a Storm Audio Processor, Trinnov, Datasat what Processors even allow true Stereo Bass?

Anthem allows it in some of their processors. "Bass management for two subwoofers, in mono or stereo"

Apparently the Emotiva has two modes for Subs.

LFE mode on the center sub out = LFE channel only

Dual Mono mode on the Left/Right sub out = Crossover Low pass information only.

and

Mono for all. AKA LFE and Crossover on all the connected subs on Left/Center/Right Sub out.

UPDATE: Received the replacement amp from Monoprice this week, and was finally able to hook it up this weekend. Summary: Great customer service, and the new unit is dead silent! Very happy with the result.

Anyone who wants the full version can read it at this link in the Monoprice Amp Thread.

That’s great news Scott.

Also update on my end about the processors....

You most definitely should be looking at the Monoprice processor if you already have monoprice amps.

And the RMC-1 continues to be buggy. I had to do a full power down twice to get the thing to recognize a bitstream signal last night again.

That's got to be really disappointing. It's been out for almost a year now, and they still have unsolved bugs that affect basic operation of the unit? Man, that processor has so much potential, it's a shame that it's not ready for prime time yet.

Do you think they just tried to bite off too much?

I personally believe so. I don't think they have a large enough software engineering team to have taken on such a monumental task of releasing such an advanced piece. And to make matters worse they just released 2 more 16 channel processors now too!

That would be awesome! From the equipment list and what you've told me, it sounds like a great theater. @lbrown105 any current pictures you can share?

With baby #2, I imagine my spare time for the next 6-12 months will be pretty sporadic, so I'll do my best to attend what I can. I guess the good news is that I should be able to enjoy my theater with all the time at home. lol

Unfortunately, I already have plans during the morning and early afternoon that day, and it's one of the weekends that Nicki needs to work, so we wouldn't be able to make it until early evening. I don't know if that would be alright for the GTG.

With baby #2, I imagine my spare time for the next 6-12 months will be pretty sporadic, so I'll do my best to attend what I can. I guess the good news is that I should be able to enjoy my theater with all the time at home. lol
Here are a few pics from a thread I just started. I have a video of the bar too but can't seem to add MOV.files?

Wow! That is an impressive amount of space, perfect for a mixed usage area. If you're not watching a movie, you've still got a ton of other things going on, tons of space, and great aesthetics to match. Nice work!
