Hey Mike! Thanks for re-energizing this group thread.

I'm up for the October 13 date. Late September is fuzzy atm, but not likely in the cards for me.

Wish I could be there guys but unfortunately we moved to Michigan about 9 months ago. We are in the process of building our new home and I have a space marked out for a 19x28 home theater. Ill post some pics but none the less we no longer live in Texas. Hope you all are doing well and keep these going!

We have had 4 total meet ups, 3 were at bars where we discuss room setup & equipment ask for advice ect, and one meet was an in home demo/tour. I like both ways, in the future I would hope that we get a bit more documented with questions. I am building a screen wall and would like to get the groups advice, experience, and contractors.

Due to the response of SunPin, mhutchins, and HT Geek - I'm going to cancel the Sunday September 23rd (it was a stretch worth a shot)

Unfortunately I'm not able to make it either. Had it on the calendar but somehow didn't notice the afternoon timeframe. All tied up with family stuff and Texas football get together. Could we someday try a late evening meetup?

Hey guys. I won't be able to make it today either. My calendar has been crazy busy the last week+ and just realized I've got another obligation for one of my kids up North that I have to attend to this afternoon.

To @CoryW 's suggestion, maybe we should try an evening get-together. This time of year seems to be crazy if you have kids, taxes due Monday, etc.

Sorry guys. I have moved out of the Austin area as well, so have not been paying any attention to this thread. We found out in February that our granddaughter and her husband were expecting their first child. My wife immediately decided we were selling our house and moving back to the Houston area. We ended up selling our Georgetown home in 2 days with a 30 day closing! We then had to find a house in the Houston area. Long story short, we closed on the Georgetown house on Fri morning, May 18th, drove to Houston and closed on the new home at 4 PM, just in time to get back to the new house and meet the moving van!

Great granddaughter arrived the first week of September and all are well.

I, on the other hand, am still trying to find a place for all the junk in the garage, and also trying to get a 7.2.4 system up and running in a family room. No space for a dedicated theater. Have only a 5.2 up and running at this point, but have the rest of the speakers and a new JVC RS640 I picked up on close out. I am waiting for January and hopefully cooler weather so I can get up in the attic and get wire run and speakers installed.

Best of luck to you all and thank you for the short time I was able to meet with you all.

I did the exact opposite. I lived in Katy/Houston. I started a new job in Round Rock this October and sold/closed our family house in Katy two weeks after. Got a rental in the Round Rock area almost as soon as I started the new job. I lived in Austin for about 4 years total prior to living in Houston for about 5 1/2 years. So there is balance in the force, 2 left on each end and arrived in the opposite city areas. I have some family in Leander and Cedar Park which is nice. I didn't have any family in Houston besides my wife. So I haven't met the Austin people yet, but hopefully I soon will. If you guys like car meets I love to go to them.

Great to have you both on board! I'm now doing the post-holidays catch up on LIG, including AVS posts.

FYI, this thread is one of the main sources of group meetup invites for the Austin metro. We haven't all gotten together in awhile, but stay tuned. Also, we are fairly evenly split between 'Northerners' and 'Southerners'. I am personally up in the North subs, near both of you FWIW.

Wanted to update you all on a recent upgrade to the kit: a LG C8 77” replaced my 60” Panasonic plasma. The upgrade to 4K, HDR, WCG, and true blacks was worth it. Mounting it on an extendable wall mount allows me to change my FOV based on content which is pretty fun: 60 degrees at a 5.5’ viewing distance!

That's awesome. Congrats! We absolutely love our LG OLED... Though I primarily use my JVC projector for the home theater.
