Minneapolis PJ demo /Crawl 2019

Hey Minneapolis metro members, any interest in a crawl and or projector showing for June 29 or July 13?

Good chance ill have the following pj's in addition to Atmos 7.2.4 setup;
Epson 4050 & 6050
JVC 4K & 8K
Sony low end 4K & high end 4K
Possible guest appearance by another high end brand.

Additional gear: KScape Strato, lumagen, panamorph paladin.

ideally running demo via KScape, but oppo uhd player available.

Sign me up! Recently relocated back to MN and the new house has a lovely unfinished basement with a place for a dedicated theater. Excited to connect with others I the area to help jump start the build.

I'd love the opportunity to see some of those projectors in action! I currently have some money down on a epson 5040 but have been agonizing over whether a JVC is worth the extra money-so hard when you can't see them first hand! Not sure what i could contribute but I would love to participate. Thanks!

I'd hold off purchasing until you check out these projectors. I live near @Killer if you would also like to check out a JVC RS540 / X790 (unless @Killer will have one as well for comparison). I've seen both the Epson and JVC - and to me - the JVC is in another league for movies, TV and gaming as compared to the Epson. This is not a knock on the Epson, as it is a very nice PJ, it's just I still haven't seen a better picture from a PJ than my setup with the JVC. I previously had a Sony 1080P projector.

I've got nearly 2,500 hours on my X790 and couldn't be happier. I have a fully blacked out room and a 100" 16:9 Stewart Cima Neve screen and the picture is unbelievable. I look forward to seeing the latest and greatest but I think this projector is an incredible value and you're probably paying a lot more for a newer technology PJ for slight improvements where the law of diminishing returns takes over.

It should be a lot of fun!

I'd love to attend. Especially since I didn't get to your place at last year's crawl.

I turn the sharpness on my TV all the way up, because that's how I like my picture... real sharp.

Is this one getting pushed out? Hasn't been much action in the thread.

There's like 4-5 of us nearby, I'm in chaska myself... Zorax is two developments away and theres another one in the dedicated forum that's local too.

we'll make it happen but it may be August.

Looks like we're coming to the end of 2019 without a Minneapolis event?

I just found out about this area of AVSForum. I wish I had known about it last year, I would have attended the April 2018 event, it sounds like it was excellent.

I've been a home theater enthusiast for over 30 years, and I currently live in Medina, MN. My house has three theater setups, a 7.1.2 system in the master bedroom, a 7.2.8 system in my great room (upgrading AVR, amps, and subwoofers now), and a 6.1 system in the basement.

Here's a post about my great room setup and also looking for some input on a new prepro (probably a Marantz AV8805) and amplification.

https://www.avsforum.com/forum/90-re...l#post58809622

I'm looking for recommendations to get to 15 channels of amps for mains, and also for subwoofer amps.

Has anyone ever seen/heard someone using all Behringer amps for home theater, especially the NX4-6000? I'd like to talk with someone, and even demo if possible, that setup.

Oh, and count me in on the next event, whether it be a fully organized crawl or just a movie night get together. Disney+ just launched and I'm about to organize a 4k UHD Star Wars showing at my place soon.

Even if there aren't any formal events organized, if you just want to come over and your/demo or invite me over for the same, just PM me. I have guest rooms to host travellers too, so if you happen to be coming to the Minneapolis area, PM me and we'll see if we can work something out.

Thanks!

-J.C.

There are a group of people hoping to have a mini-GTG possibly around Thanksgiving or later in the SW Metro to play around with subs at 2 or 3 locations. I've got a pair of PSA TV42s (dual 21" iPALs) that should arrive in a week or two to compare with my existing PSA S3600 (sealed dual opposing 18") subs for those interested to hear the different sound signatures. I'll post on this thread and the old 2018 thread if things work out. It's always fun to get together!

Looks like we're running out of time to schedule something for 2019. We'll have to start another new thread for 2020 now.

Off topic, is there a better way to reach out to twin cities HT enthusiasts other than posting in this thread (or the April 2018 thread which might have more subscribers)?

I want to get my Epson 6050UB projector and LG C8 OLED TVs calibrated. Does anyone have a good contact for an ISF calibrator that services the twin cities metro area?

I've been in contact with the very well known calibrator @Gregg Loewen of LionAV about coming to Minneapolis. He has been out here before, but it has been over 10 years since he was out last. He says if we get six calibrations lined up, he will come out. I have three already (two TVs and a projector), so that's halfway there. Anyone else interested?

Here's his AVSForum profile link:

You might consider reaching out to Michael Boeker with High Impact AV (user @desertdome ). He's out of Omaha and is in the middle of doing 3 calibrations in the Des Moines area. He did my NX7 yesterday and I'm very pleased with the results. Not sure if he gets that far north though.
