After discussing with my wife, both of us are against moving the 270 lb 4000ULF up and down the stairs due to the possibility of damage. Therefore for the 4000ULF to be present, it would have to stay in the family room/den downstairs.

Marc Alexander, I am sure you can move the 2400ULF upstairs just 1 day for the GTG?

That makes complete sense. For some reason I thought it was "only" 195 lbs.

I'm going to keep the 2400ULF downstairs and put the Rythmik FV18 upstairs. It should give a good perspective on who "needs" a 4000 over a 2400.

After posting on another thread regarding my plan to buy a JTR sub, Chucky was kind enough to tell me about the GTG. I would love the chance to attend. Please let me know if there is enough room for me to attend. Thanks.

AVS has been having issues. I thought I lost my post and had to recreated it. Now, it has appeared. Oh well. :|

Is anyone interested seeing Solo: A Star Wars Story in Barco 11.1 (Auro3D) Friday night at 7:00 PM? Cinemark Century Stadium 25 and XD in Anaheim (next to the Honda Center) off of the 57 FWY/Katella

This is my go-to theater as the sound /bass is among the best I've experience in the cinema. Learned that they are using Auro3D when we saw Infinity War here.

We can go to the Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar after the movie.

Missed this until just now, and will be in Avila Beach seeing Calexico play at the tequila festival -- otherwise I'd make the drive with a car full of cakes and pies and cookies and other healthy foods. I hope everyone has a great meet-up and I'll keep an eye out for the next one.

I will not be able to attend the movie, as I work the night shift and will be working Friday night. I will be attending the GTG, although probably a little later than than the start time so I can get some sleep. I will bring some dessert to the GTG.

I also wanted to thank Marc for opening up his house to us and hosting the GTG. It was fun to meet everyone. I especially enjoyed listening to the Monoprice subs, but the JTR subs really were impressive and rocked the house. I was impressed with the Cap 1400 and the 2400, but when Chucky connected and turned on that 4000, man oh man, that thing really shock the house. Chucky, thanks again for bringing the 4000 and the 1400
And thanks to Marc and everyone for making a new guy feel welcome.

from my layman's POV - WOW.

just to be able to listen , and not just the subs, to discussions about how and the who and how things work in the real world . .
a great learning experience to increase perspective

and the dedicated room, , I can see what I'm missing out on but we've all got compromises . . . and it's almost always a work in progress

what I did notice, as an elementary point, was the strong light coming in thru and over the top of the curtains over those western windows

I had the same issue but then I could just build some big 7" thick traps, since it's the back wall and completely blank out the whole window, about 3x4 ish using hangman strips

But for my patio door on the north side, yes you can do blackout curtains but light can still sneak around and out the top if you let it.

so I build this , is it a "valance" IDK, but it keeps light from sneaking out over the top of the curtain .i.e., there's a board up there . . . duh . .

maybe that's an answer to help in controlling and mitigating intrusive light, if that's an objective for a totally darkened theater.
