Yes, I had heard that it was the first THX trailer mixed in Atmos.

Me too.

But there is still a bit of magic when going to the theater (with state-of-the-art picture & sound) for me. Plus, my wife appreciates when I shower & dress and leave the house every once in a while. Everything starts at the big screens and trickles down to the home.

Have you checked out any of the Dolby Cinemas near you (Ontario Mills, Riverside, Rancho)?

Yeah... the only one I've been to is the AMC Dolby Cinema "theater #17 " at Ontario, outside the mills.

That's the only Theater that I go to and I really only go for big premieres.
Would like to check out some of these theaters the guys here are going to also..

Current fave is the IMAX theatre at the AMC Burbank 16, since it recently got upgraded to laser projection and 12-track immersive audio. Well worth checking out.

I've been trying to make it out to the Burbank theater for a couple of years now. It just never seems to work out though.
Maybe now with the recent updates I'll get out and check it out.

Because of your long drive only theaters worth checking out in my opinion.

AMC Burbank 16 Imax (Current Favorite)
TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood (Bad acoustics)(Good Picture)
AMC Universal Citywalk Hollywood (Picture and sound better than the TCL but not as good as Burbank) (expensive parking

All with dual laser projection and 12 track audio and worth checking out if in the area.

Westwood Village Regency Theater (THX and Dolby Cinema) (Best Picture) Sound is very dynamic and clear but surrounds and heights are very subtle or it would also be the best sounding one also.
Would be my first choice except for no stadium seating, no reserved seating, poor parking and lots of traffic.

Pacific Winetka 12 in Chatsworth (Onyx Samsung LCD instead of projection) Have not been there but Sanjay has. Also probably worth a look.

Also any Dolby Cinema (The most consistent audio/picture quality movie experience)

Thanks for the very detailed list...much appreciated. I'm definitely going to check those out.

Ivan, I didn't see your theater on the list..

One thing that the family really enjoys about the AMC Dolby Cinema in Ontario is the food...!
It's really good, like eating at a Red Robin...and...they bring it right to your seat....the closest thing to being home in my own theater...lol

Nope

It’s my bday weekend, and I have to work. I am the PM for a project that is launching that weekend.
I was planning on going to the T.H.E. Show on Sunday don’t think I’ll be doing that either.
