Oh, by the way. Not true home theater decor, but I thought they were pretty cool!

We are definitely interested but this weekend just sort of imploded for stuff we got roped into.

No worries at all. We scheduled it pretty far out and it kinda snuck up on me too. We'll get it scheduled with everyone soon. I haven't seen it, so I'm excited to watch it. Haven't seen Django either as far as that goes. Need to find time for that one too.

Hey guys. Update on my theater....hope to be done by end of June!! Here are my most current pictures (taken last night):

Hopefully one (or more) of you audio/video guru's can help me get everything dialed in once the room is done. When it comes to audio/video calibration, it's way over my head and I hope one of you can teach me some things to make it sound amazing! Hopefully I can get some help....I can supply pizza, beer and hopefully an awesome sounding and looking movie!

The new Star Wars bluray isn't out until the 5th I thought? I stopped by Family Video and there it is on the shelves all ready to be watched! Not sure if it's just my store in Indianola but I was surprised it was out early.

@joshp14 greating looking room. I am sure with the pizza and beer offering you won't have any trouble getting help calibrating your room to some standard I know @desertdome does an excellent job from the reviews I've heard, but that level of awesomeness cost a bit more than beer and za.

@Draden1 , that is surprising to read. I understood the HD download of Force Awakens was available yesterday, but no hard media for rental or purchase until this coming Friday.

Star Wars already out?!?!? Had the same thought as Deewan.

I spent last night watching Concussion. Good flick...sad movie...on the audio side some unexpected surges of bass.

I've seen a lot of reports on Facebook of it hitting brick and mortar video store shelves early around the country. Not sure that I've seen that happen fairly widespread like that before....Crazy.

Sounds like Family Video made a deal to get advance copies given their large purchase quantities. My Family Video had it too

I bought 3 of these, gaming related for my computer room. They are pretty cool but much smaller than I expected.

Looking great Josh! I'd be willing to help out with a rough calibration until you get DesertDome in there for the real deal.

What is being used for calibration, if you don't mind me asking? I just hooked up a mini DSP and AM2DC with my Marantz for now. I am going to hook up a UMIK soon and start learning/working REW. I am always looking for ways to optimize audio.
Thanks,
Russ

Mainly just eyeballs and ears for a rough pass. Probably run any room correction the audio processor may have. Might take a look and see what is free for REC 709 calibration and throw that on a laptop. He'll definitely want someone like DD to get it right. Just offering up some time to look at it and correct anything glaring. Nothing fancy for sure.

There still are video rental stores? All of our Iowa City stores went away and red box is your only physical rental option. Is the new Star Wars worth the coin to buy? I don't do theaters, except home ones of course, so I haven't seen it. Starved for a great HT sound track, haven't heard anything good/new since Edge of Tomorrow!

Set up #1: EMP e5Ti, e5Ci, and EMP e5Bi surrounds, Outlaw LFM1 Plus sub, SVS NSD SB12 sub, Integra AV receiver
Set up #2: Def Tech CA Aero 2, CLR2002, SLS Qline surrounds and EMPtek10i10i sub, Slimline AV receiver
Set up #3: Philharmonics- BMR in a 2.0 system, music only, Integra AV receiver

I thought there was a Family Video at Riverside & Hwy 6 (next to Fin & Feather)? There's also one in North Liberty.

@Elihawk I haven't seen the home version of Star Wars The Force Awakens yet, but the theater version was worth breaking my 10 years drought of not visiting a commercial theater. I plan on watching my copy of The Force Awakens this weekend.

I had to search the internet for a long time to find the original version of Episode VII, the one without George Lucus's CGI edits and where Han shoots first and kills Kylo. Ordered from China, but the vintage storyline and video will be worth the hassle. time to dust off the VCR

We're in, and my copy of TFA has been taunting me since UPS dropped it off yesterday. Holding out.

I love my iPhone, but it will never replace my turntable. I've never seen Titanic OR XXXXXXXXX.

There's no reason they couldn't. What they talk about here is by no means cost prohibitive when you look at it in the scheme of a typical Hollywood budget.

It's less a question of why they can't, but why they don't.

Have room for 2 more or are you already full? Considering bringing my son if you're allowing kids at tonight's showing?

Hey Josh - tonight is a full house and then some. I'll have another showing of Star Wars since @jeahrens and @ZLTFUL want to make it over. It won't be next weekend but hopefully the weekend after. I'll post details later...let me know if you're interested.
