So that is probably more reliable/consistent than a set of Facebook group posts by random people.
I'm hearing that there is an LFE sweep that rivals Edge of Tomorrow. I've only watched via VUDU, so I can't attest to it.

Also, since this is the Iowa group, I have to post this great article about the Iowa boys who wrote it. Great kids. I have about 4 DVDs they burned for me with all their short films from high school, and the kids have talent.

I love my iPhone, but it will never replace my turntable. I've never seen Titanic OR XXXXXXXXX. Alexa is a stripper name.

My daughter saw this movie at our local discount theater a few days ago. She is still talking about the movie. Maybe I will have to check it out.

I didn't realize the tie back to Iowa on this one. So cool.

I watched A Quiet Place Sunday night at https://www.avsforum.com/forum/19-de...eater-5-a.html. System was 7.1 with a Danley DTS-10 and Clark Synthesis tactile transducers. I don't know where nebrunner sourced the movie for HTPC playback. While there was some low bass, I don't remember anything spectacular or exceptional.

I really like the movie. It was very well done. I don't think there are any spoilers in this: How A Quiet Place Sound Designers Made Audiences Afraid of Their Own Noise

I watched Quiet Place today...man, it hits hard in some spots. Definitely quiet in spots. Definitely an intense barrage of sound that makes your heart skip a beat in others. Must watch!

Hey there guys!

Would anyone in the area (North Liberty) have a USB calibration mic that I could borrow? There would be some beer in it for ya! (Or wine coolers, no judgement)

I just finished buliding and hooking up a Cyclops 18 build with a Dayton UM-18 and just wanted to see how flat my response was and tweak where needed.

On a side note, this thing sounds amazing!

I will do some of it, hope to get somebody to put the Dricore subflooring back in, new carpet and pad for 2,048 sq ft basement. All because a $200 sump pump failed. My basement carpet wasn't a year old when it was tore out.

Just wanted to give a couple updates. Watched some new discs over the weekend.

Ready Player One 4K - Really pretty disc. There are a lot of shots that really take advantage of the HDR expanded palette. Atmos and surround effects are top notch. This will be a great demo disc

Gladiator 4K - I just had time to watch a few minutes here and there to see if it was worthy upgrade. Holy cow yes. The expanded color and detail in the armor and outfits is readily apparent. Didn't watch the whole battle in the beginning, but the DTS:X track is excellent with good use of overheads. The effects heavy shots (like entering Rome) are soft because they're simply upscaled, but overall WOW.

Seriously if you can do 4K both are really good. I was especially impressed with what they could do with Gladiator. RPO is popcorn/brain candy, but again very demo worthy fun.

Also watched MI:6 at the Flix:MX. Really good entry into the series. McQuarrie has cemented himself as his generations Frankenheimer with the chase shots. You will be pleasantly reminded of Ronin here. My only nitpick is the 3rd act felt like it needed tightening some. But really that's it.

For fun we watched MI:1 and boy does that Blu Ray need work. Looks almost upscaled with only DD 5.1 for sound. Wasn't planning on updating this one to 4K, but just might have to.

I don't want to spoil it for those that haven't seen it but the race, the dance club and the end battle just have demo written all over them.

Its a treasure trove of 60's, 70's, 80's, 90s', 00's pop culture and so well put together.

I broke Joel's heart and picked up a 16:9 150" acoustically transparent screen.

So that means the 130" non-AT 16:9 Silver Ticket screen I was going to retrofit with AT material is up for sale.
DSM area, $150 takes it.
130" version of this:

The non-scope screen I found = $200

$3200 will go a long way towards better projector and better seating.
Why not buy the screen material from Seymour and build the frame.
They will sell the material as is, or pre-punched with holes for a rubber band like mounting system.
You built everything else, the screen frame is a simple thing.
The material is VERY cost effective.
