Thanks Deewan! Have you looked at the GSG packs? They are engineered very well for how they fit easily together, much better than the standard Marty templates.
I'm willing to pay a bit more but get a clever product and help out the AVS DIY team! =) Its still cheap by comparison to a new sub.
Psssh you already have enough sound in that room to blow out a wall. That Panasonic gets any older it will qualify for Medicaid.

-Deewan the Trading Places pic is awesome. An 80's classic.

Let me know what you find about doing the mini/full combo. There's a loading dock where I work that we may be able to use but I drive a Honda Civic so I'm not sure what I'd be able to transport.

I have an FJ crusier which could likely fit the packs a couple at a time. So if we can get a loading doc I could help distribute here locally.

So who else would want a Marty type cabinet?
There is 1 cabinet left out of a 4 pack.

Does anyone happen to have a lead on a good used UMIK-1 mic, or would be king enough to let me borrow one for a week or so after the new year?

I'm getting a miniDSP 2x4 from someone else here on AVS, but without the mic, and I am now having a hard time convincing my wife that I need a $93 UMIK-1 for Christmas that will most likely be used for a couple of days and then just sit idle for years. Seems pricey for what I am going to be doing.

I live in Marion, but travel to West Des Moines twice a month.

I might be in Moline on December 12th to pick up my daughter and son-in-law at the airport. They are still working out that schedule for when they arrive if they are needing a ride to Marion/Cedar Rapids, or if they are going to his grand parents' in La Claire in which I would not be over that way.

@nickbuol , I've got a one or two mics I could possible lend you. I hope to use my UMIK this weekend to dial in the RMC-1. After that I offered to loan it out to another RMC-1 member if he chooses to not use the Dirac mic that came with his RMC and create a calibration file. Assuming I have the UMIK back by the end of December I could loan you my calibrated UMIK-1 or give you my Dirac mic and you could use it (after creating a calibration file).

Thanks. I've got a lot of reading to do up front about how to do all of this, but I am really just looking to add a house curve for my subwoofers to get some "chest thump" that I've been lacking, mainly due to having a flat frequency curve in the room thanks to room correction. With my Anthem MRX1120, I don't have a way to bump up just a certain frequency range when room correction is on or off.

I'm hoping that it isn't to terribly complicated since I am working with just the LFE channel and not everything else as well.

If I wasn't satisfied with sound overall, I would probably take the time to adjust everything and then buying a UMIK-1 would make more sense, but for just bumping up a frequency range on a single channel, it seems like a bit of overkill. LOL

Alright @nickbuol, sounds good. If you do get this way, then we can work it out, if not then it looks like @deewan has you covered. I am about 20 minutes from the Moline airport.

In case there is anyone here looking to upgrade to change to separates, I'm selling my gently used Marantz AV7704. For any Iowa thread member it will come with full factory warranty and sales receipt. PM me if interested. I plan on listing on sales sites today.

Based on this I'm assuming you have the RMC-1 already? Once you get it dialed in please report back on it...sound quality, interface, quirks, etc. I'm interested to hear.

I'd be happy to give my impressions of it's sound, but it might be best for you to come give a listen for yourself since everyone's tastes in sound varies so much. I only recall a few "audiophile" phrases I could repeat from my days of reading Stereo Review magazine.

If you want to wait until Dirac is released, I'm guessing that will be late Jan or early February.

Huh, Dirac isn't part of the initial launch? I obviously haven't been following the RMC-1 development, is it Dirac Live or another flavor?

@Draden1 - Dirac was also not included with the XMC at launch. It was added via firmware about a month later if my memory is correct. Same situation with the RMC-1. Emotiva has not fully committed to which Dirac will be included, but I have a feeling it will be Dirac 2 since the RMC has enough horsepower and then some for Dirac 2 and Emo is still working out the details with Dirac Research AB. That's my opinion based on the conversations I've had.

^ Interesting, I didn't know that about the XMC-1. As for Dirac 2, I'm curious what improvements it can make? Now I'm very interested in hearing your impressions once you get it dialed in. And yes, I'd be excited to come by for a listen after you have settled it in a bit.

Drew, perhaps we can carpool to @deewan ’s, as I will have some bidness over there in the not too distant future.

I would totally be game if I didn't currently have 4 - 4cf sealed flat packs from DIYSG, 2 - 4cf custom corner enclosures I built, 1 - 8cf DIYSG dual opposed flat pack and 2 ported 9cf enclosures.

I keep confusing my intentions with my abilities.

I have a small set up with a 113" screen with a JV rs420. I have some PSA speakers and PSA subwoofers. So if anyone is headed out this way/ or nearby, let me know, and we can rattle some windows....The room is not optimized, but a work in progress.

I have my setup in my bio so if there is anything you want to hear in my setup you are welcome. Although I don't have anything unique. I am going to swap out my def techs for some DIY Fusion 15's hopefully in the next few weeks. Really looking forward to that but I don't think my wife or neighbors are. Haha
