The discrepancy won't be bad to fix. Set up the track saw and shave the sides.

Looking forward to your build thread. I am going to do a brand new one when I get these 2 done. It will be after the income tax gets here before I can built the other 2.

Our master is pretty big and separated into 2 rooms that are open to each other. The second room is 12'x14'ish and is currently our catch all. I can clean that out and use it as I please. I think she would rather regain control of the living room and let me "have" that room. The issue with our living room is there is no room for surrounds. There is in the tiny room though. I may end up stuffing all of this into that room and doing some small 2 channel thing in the living room. Unsure just yet. It seems like every time I get to planning, those plans change. I really need my own space outside of the house.

I am still here. Probably not as often, but still here. Partially that is due to the fact that my theater is functional, so I spend my little free time in there. Partially due to the fact that I am a little embarrassed that I haven't actually finished the final items (trim mainly). My wife was pretty patient during the 2 years it took me to build that room, but I think that patience has run out. I spent the past 2 weeks putting up a glass subway tile back splash, before that it was built-ins in the family room, so on and so forth. My family is coming to visit in about a month, so hopefully that will be the incentive I need to knock out the last few items and officially call the room done.

Starting to have a pretty good representation of DIYsoundgroup speakers here in Jax! We'll have to add all of our stuff to the "demo your equipment" thread.

Hoping to have my HTM-10's up and running in the next couple weeks!

Wifey is on board with the idea of a theater building. I was very close to buying an old school portable and hauling it in. Just needed to run power and get a new AC. When we tried to find a place to put it, we just don't have the room. On one side our house is as close to a pond as the county allows, one side is our legal easement, and the two remaining sides don't allow for a building and the required offsets. We only have 1 acre in the middle of my brother-in-laws 30. We were told we would be getting the entire 110 acres when we moved out here. That didn't happen. My mother in law, whom I don't speak to any more, owns the 90 acres to our East. My cousin owns the 100 acres to our South. We really need to get our own land. I am tired taking care of other peoples land to satisfy my own neurosis and be made fun of while I do it. Much deeper issue there. LOL We are working on paying the truck off and then getting a piece of land that is ours that I have room to expand on. I would be happy with 30-50 acres for our family.

Back to speakers. I got the green light from wifey for a build day Saturday. Hoping the rain stays gone and I can make the required dust.

Excuse my absence... I know I've been AWOL. School has kept me pretty busy. Also slightly part of the reason I haven't ordered any speakers yet.

I'll be there tomorrow to help out... well, as much as I can. You guys need/want me to bring anything?

Got all the pre-drilling, fitment, taped off and a coat of primer. While that dried I started on the second enclosure. Had to run to town and grab supplies for the fort and lost the rest of the day.

How did the crossover assembly go?

Looks good!

We got all 5 of Chad's speakers done! Here's a pic I snapped while they started on the xovers.

Matt has some more of the inprogress and I'm sure Chad will take a few in their new home.

We only had a few minutes to listen but they sounded great! Chad is messing with them tonight and I'm sure will report in once he has them dialed in.

Very cool! I hope I get the opportunity to audition those at some point. I spent the day getting some work done on my kids fort. Chipping away at another of my projects.

Wifey's family brought the railroad through town among other things. The first grocery store, service station, etc.

If I had the land, I would run a farm. Cows, pigs, meat chickens, laying hens and a few other projects. It does take a lot of work, no doubt.

I ran into a snag with the primer I bought. I used Glasser white primer and sealer. After 2 coats t has rediculous ridges. I tried sanding with 220 and it just gummed up the pads and didn't come out flat. The next day I get to work, I will step up to 120 and get it flat. Even if that means taking it all the way down to the MDF. I used a smooth foam roller. I am going to buy primer and a different black in rattle can and then get a sprayer for the exterior.

The first picture is before sanding. The second is after sanding and a quick spray with flat black rattle can.

Thank you. It is currently 24' wide. I left supports so I can add more to it later. Still need to add the roof o the enclosed section. As we can afford, I will add a slide and swings. I chose to build and design it myself because everyone I know that bought an assemble it yourself kit, has had it rot only after a few years.

I hear you on not working on it in summer. I have taken my time on this one. Been in the works since April of last year. I have to plan times to work on it. Doesn't happen very often. ?

I never would have bought one myself, but we inherited this one from my sister in law when they moved and didn't want it. They bought it new and it really only lasted about 3 years before noticeable wear and a few boards rotting. Definitely building my own next go round.

Wow, that's some pretty bad streaking. I really like the Zinsser B-I-N Shellac-Based Primer. Goes on fairly thick, dries quickly, and sands very nicely without gumming up paper too much.

i cant remember..were u finishing them in duratex or a better finish?
I hadn't picked a finish really. I was willing to give Duratex another shot but I really like the way these came out in the link.

I sent him a message asking the details. They are exactly what I wanted, but I had already ordered the Duratex.

I have had that recommendation as well for the Zinsser product. What did you use to apply it?
