Thanks to everyone that came yesterday to my theater/game room reveal and speaker shootout GTG. Not going to lie, I was completely stressed out when everyone started showing up. That was by far the largest group of people I've ever had in my house, a social butterfly I am not. I especially enjoyed pushing the sound system to its limits, and occasionally a little past it. Several people in this group are working on, or planning builds of there own. If anyone ever gets stuck, and needs another opinion, feel free to PM me. As a side note, I plan on finding the resonant frequency of that cable and posting a video, that was crazy!

I missed the "pulse" demo in the theater. I am convinced I felt it in the kitchen though.

Yeah, they played it right after I left the room. It blended well with the music in the living room. It helped the bookshelf speakers come alive.

PA-460 for midbass tactile? How will you set them up? (Enclosure? Location? Amplification? Processing? Signal chain?)

I currently have 2 PA380's (15s) for Midbass and tactile..just going to upgrade to the 460s since they were on sale. Have them beside the couch facing the MLP.

currently running them on channel A of an Inuke 6000 DSP...running some sealed HO 15s behind the couch on Channel B.

What does the signal chain look like? How are you crossing over / eq’ing?

i just have them on my normal sub out from the receiver..if thats what your asking... i took the settings from the VBSS design thread and applied them to channel A of the Inuke...running my receiver at 100hz for the crossover for all speaker....im sure its not 100% by the book..but it sounds phenomenal. going to find some way to still use the PA 380's..dont wanna waste them

If I remember correctly, you had those settings completely jacked up and I fixed them and tweaked...just sayin!

Chad's are all run off of his sub pre-out's. Receiver to inukeDSP on all subs. I EQ's everything in pairs since they are all symmetrical. Two 18" dayton Ref drivers up front were set at 0 delay since they are furthest away. Next we dialed in the side firing PA380 subs with a bit of delay until the frequency response looked good. Then added in the subs behind his seats until it looked good. I did all of this based on the MTG-90 multiple sub thread and it was pretty easy and helped with room smoothing a lot.

Hello all.

I just joined the forums and found this thread. I'm in the Julington Creek Plantation area. Currently hooking up my mix of mid 90's gear, early 2000 AVR, and new replacements for things that didn't make multiple moves and storage trips. Currently running a pieced together kit of an old JVC AVR and Polk speakers in a 7.1 setup. Taking my time upgrading along the way and soaking in the knowledge here. I don't have a dedicated theater room as the primary setup is part Golf Simulator and Home Theater on the side. Setup is in an open upstairs bonus room. I'm a couple of weeks away from finishing the golf setup and getting new recliners for theater seating. My HT focus will be a new AVR and some DIY subs to creatively fit the room as I like a clean and minimalistic setup. Currently using a short throw BenQ1080p projector for the golf simulator and have both a golf impact screen and 150" AT movie screen that I move between depending on what activity is underway. All except for the side and rear surrounds are behind the screens.
My girls love it all and movies are a welcome activity on lazy weekends. I'll try and share pictures as the build moves along. I have many ideas for the future, time will tell what I'm able to get done this year. Beyond HT and golf, my other passions are cars, garages, and car detailing. I'm either in the garage or upstairs in the golf cave when I have free time.

On my todo list:
-Putting turf area and hitting surface build.
-New furniture, theater style but modern recliners in he rear row. Listening/viewing distance is determined by safe golf swing space. 14' from the 150" screen currently.
-New gear, AVR and DIY subs (ULF and near field
-Organized equipment rack and mini kitchen area
- Acoustic Treatments?
-Atmos adds possibly

Thank to everyone that came out a couple weeks ago to my theater/game room demo and speaker shootout. It was nice finally comparing our DIY to some retail speakers. One thing I learned from this shootout is that SVS makes some very nice sounding speakers. I was very pleased when people commented on the sound containment in the theater. That was a primary concern in this build. Feel free to share your opinion on the shootout and the theater/game room build. Matt already helped me with the dead spot at the MLP. I spent the last two weeks building a pair of full marties shaped like the slanted columns on the back wall. It worked perfectly and now all the bass in the room is at the MLP. As for my opinion of the shootout, I liked the SVS Ultra Bookshelf and M&K S100 the most. Very nice sounding speakers. Would have been nice to have a set of HTM10s or Fusion10s to put against them.

Klipsch KLF30, DIYSG HTM6, DIYSG Concentric8, Boston Acoustics CR-85, SVS Ultra Bookshelf, JBL Studio L890, M&K S100.

Matt already helped me with the dead spot at the MLP. I spent the last two weeks building a pair of full marties shaped like the slanted columns on the back wall. It worked perfectly and now all the bass in the room is at the MLP.

I love me some REW graphs!! That is quite the response. Would you mind checking the floor for a filling that the demo may have rattled out of my head? :>)

Happy to report and a big thanks to Universithy of Florida hospital, my cancer was successfully removed. The great news is that I will not require radiation nor chemo therapy.

Now recovering from the surgery and that will take a bit, we are so blessed.

That's great to hear Dale and thanks for the update. Hopefully life will return to normal soon and you can get back on the long road to hearing loss.
