Ok... who wants to steer me to which subs? :>)

I don't think I am looking for near fields as I would likely put Buttkickers in the seats.

Would need a few more specifics like:
- are you open to DIY
- how many locations for subs do you have and how large of a box can you live with
- what's the budget
- do you want reference, reference plus overkill, never listen at reference, etc...
- are you wanting single digits at 120db or just get to say 18hz

Probably a few more things I'm forgetting but the above will help.

I'm trying something different and picked up some thin laminate flooring and PL extreme. Trying a weathered wood veneer look to the cabinet. Worth a shot for something cool, and if it fails in the looks department, then flat black it will be.

Nice! I've thought about using laminate like this before as well. Looks good. Post some finished pics when you get there.

It fits. Parts arriving the next few days, then I'll test her out this weekend. Not to bad for cutting the first sheet of MDF late Sunday afternoon.

Good news is the sub is ready. Got a friend to help carry it upstairs, so that is done.

Bad news is the amp arrived today and is toast. Immediate protection mode and no fan running when powered on, with no connections to test.

Replacement NX3000D from Amazon ordered out of frustration while I wait for return processing from another store, see if we can get lucky. I'll probably splurge for a new AVR and MiniDSP Mic once the theater seating arrives. The black tape outline is where the new furniture footprint will fall. I have another sub on the opposite corner and will build another of these in the future to match in the other location.

I feel your pain as I await resolution on a bad Integra Pre-Pro.

That sub looks sharp! Nice work.

Thanks. The ends are parts of the laminate flooring I used to cover the box. https://www.homedepot.com/p/TrafficM...0375/301127380

The flush routed ends are colored with a water and flat black paint mix, brushed on and then wiped off to get the gray finish.

Hey guys, also from Jax ... I am considering building a IB Sub setup in my home but really wanted to hear one first to see if its worth it. From what I read there is "no comparison" esp for the cost, but wanted to hear for myself how one sounds. I do have a 15" IB setup in my car (SQ) and its very clean and clear but wanted to hear something more powerful in a home setup. Otherwise, possibly 1 or 2 18" ported subs would be plenty, not sure?

I have my main AV setup with some Chane floor standing "A-5's" and to me they sound great, esp for their cost. I was considering their 18" Sub as well and possibly 2 of them, but really dont have the space or want to have them visible from the LR area, so IB would be nice since it would be setup in the adjoining room.

Any suggestions or anyone have something similar?

I’m about to put in 8 Fi IB318. 4 manifolds, 4 locations, 4800 watts. If you’re anywhere near Pensacola you’re welcome to come listen.

Uh... not really. Various threads just asking questions.. a couple photos here and there. I should make a thread just for my theater build. 142” acoustic screen, black velvet on the ceiling, Epson 5040ub, Yamaha in-walls.. I want to upgrade the front 3

Welcome to AVS. I'll jump right in with my 2 cents. I have no useful information about IB subs. As for considering the Chane sub... if it's the SBE-118 i'd pass. An HO18 in a sealed cabinet would cost about $50 more, built, and walk all over that SBE-118, and actually have a smaller footprint. You mentioned wanting ported. The HO18 can be ported in a slightly larger cabinet than the SBE. Building a ported cabinet wouldn't cost any more than a sealed cabinet. I'm just basing this suggestion on a driver that would be comparable in price and footprint to the Chane sub that I think you're talking about. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

I was exactly thinking about that one! Mainly for the price. Very glad to hear, thanks. Honestly I am still initially targeting IB and it looks like the above post may HELP!

Wow, this is exactly what I would like to setup. Actually was thinking 4 total but same subs and manifolds. I do have a WAF I need to consider but since we dont use the spare room I am targeting that may be easier than the LR in clear visibility!

Any ETA on when that will be ready, I may take you up on that and swing by one day!

Would love to show it off. They emailed me a couple weeks ago saying they’re building them. I don’t think they’ve shipped quite yet. I have the amps, and I’ve ran a few 20 amp circuits for all my equipment.

Are they building the manifolds for you as well? If so maybe I can get a quote for some also. I do have a few Crown amps I recently purchased for this, so at least thats covered!
