banshee..welcome to the jax thread..

what part of town are you in?

we are huge into the DIY stuff in this group..although we dont really have any IB set ups, we do have some serious fire power among the group...me and tarpenator live really close to each other and we live on the Northside...you would be more then welcome to come out for a demo sometime.

we are also huge in the DIYSG speakers..we are getting a nice collection going between us.. fusion 10s, htm 6s and htm 12s, volt 6s and volt 10s and some 1099s.

I’m building the manifolds. It’s not hard. I already built two for the 4 18” Dayton drivers that aren’t designed at all for IB. Just MDF, table saw, router, circle jig, caulking, screws...

Thanks for all the reply's!! yes this sounds really good. I got the Crown XLS1500 when they went on clearance last year or so. I think I am gonna have to get together soon. I am on the SouthSide, so not that far!

Yea sounds like you all are very good with the DIY scene! I am pretty good with the electronic portion, but not as much with the woodworking, lol. I did manage to build a nice SQ system for my car, but not much woodworking other than the IB baffle there.

Love the whole DIY route, so no issues there at all! Never heard of those speakers you mention, but I will do some googling now... Or maybe I shouldn't, maybe that will lead me into spending more money at some point, but thats gonna happen either way I guess.

Ah! yea I think it was Chad that was on the Northside of jax! I may start there but I really would like to hear those Fi's so may visit there too at some point!
I did look up the "DIYSG" and yea they look very interesting.... I did not know anything about those, sounds like they are some really nice speakers for the money!

Chad is the official greeter.... But, I will say Hello and Welcome as well.

Good bunch of guys here. I met a gaggle of them in January. I sweet-talked Chad out of his Fusion 10's. It was a really good move for me. Going to do the Volt 10's for surrounds (relatively) soon.

My next post will talk to the subs.

Probably a few more things I'm forgetting but the above will help.
Been thinking about this one for a while and recently reading a bit.

I am open to the DIY
Likely going to do 2 locations.
No specific budget as I am single.
I would like to be able to do Reference
18Hz more so than single digits.

Been thinking I might be able to handle the Mini Marty build.

Thanks guys, looking forward to meeting the locals one day! Someone mentioned something about a GTG? Where do you all have them at, I will try to make one of them soon if possible!

I knew it, now I am looking into all these DIY speakers and wondering how much better they will sound than mine!

Welcome! I still haven't heard Chad's new 1099 speakers, so I want to make it over there sometime soon. Maybe we could make it a small impromptu GTG (Chad???).

banshee...yes the DIYSG speakers are that good...i heard them once from a fellow member and sold my speakers within the week..i was able to buy a kit and get them all working and if i can do it..anyone can..LOL....and we have a few very good builders in the group as far as cabinets for sub building.. so far we have had about 5 or so GTG's..a few at my place and two at tarpenators..the last one we had about a dozen people...had a great turnout.

grand..that sounds like a very cool project..we all may have to take a roadtrip someday.

matt....we could do something like that....

I live in the Southside area as well, a few of these jerks may say I have weak bass but if you have never really heard what some DIY subs can do we can set something up. I just added new ATMOS speakers to run 5.4.2 right now and they are some great coaxial speakers from DIYSG the Volt 10s, other speakers are a bit bobo but get the job done. Its a pretty fun group and we like to give each other a hard time so most of these guys are not really jerks . Just be sure to keep telling Chad his bass is weak, always gets the conversation started again.

Nice.... Yea I recently setup a IB sub in my car and its easily the cleanest and deepest bass I ever heard but of course its only a single sub so not super loud. Looking forward to meeting up at some point

Oh, and thanks again, I spent a good portion of today looking around at DIYSG speakers and now I think I need a LCR 1099

I jumped on the forums for a simple SUB install/help and now I may have to re-do everything.
