I should be good to go. May have to drop the kids off at gma's, but should be able to make the 10th work.

Speakers I can bring:
Dayton RS180 towers
Dayton RS180 bookshelves
Khancenter, but would need a beefy amp as it's a very solid 3-4ohm design
Volt-10LX sealed (pain to get down from my surround channel position, but I'll do it if anyone is interested in hearing them)

Let me know if any interest in hearing any of these.

As Chad said, I think a lot of people (ok maybe just us two) want to hear the Volts!

Not familiar with the Khancenter. What's it's specs? I can bring a bunch of Crown XLS1500 pro amps. Should be able to handle just about anything. Here's its rated power.

Not sure if you've selected your amps yet. If you bring your subs, I can bring the amps (iNuke 6000DSP and Crown XLS1500) for you to try out.

As far as what I can bring, see my previous post on what I have. I sold the Sharp DLP Projector already so scratch that off the list. I do still have the JVC RS6710 but it might be sold soon. Just let me know.

I do now have the Denon 2300x that i got on black friday..it doesnt have the pre-outs to connect outside amps, so not sure if I can run the Khan center.

and Filtor...I have an Inuke 3000 DSP hooked up and ready if you wanted to test that out somehow..but i know you mentioned before you would need a moving truck to bring your subs..haha

and make sure u guys make it at 3pm...looks like we may need the full 4 hours...my wife and daughter have thankfully volunteered to leave the house from that time, but my daughter has an appointment somewhere at 8pm, so i will have to cut it at 7..im hoping 4 hours will be enough time to damage some drywall.

what should we do about food? should i have the wife rustle something up or do we chip in for pizza or something..(or something healthier for Matt) lol

I will have the mini fridge filled with soda and water and powerade...so I will have that part covered...I dont drink, so i dont have alcohol on hand..but i will have plenty of cherry coke.

The marketing page on your new receiver says it can handle 4ohm loads, so might be fine on your amp. I have a multi speaker selector switch (can't remember how many channels off hand) if we need that to switch between speakers easily.

Chipping in for pizza is fine with me...I don't always eat healthy! Or we could just do snacks and grab dinner afterwards, doesn't really matter to me.

I think everyone should bring their own material that they want to hear so it's not all on your plate, Chad.

the speaker selector should come in handy...i really would like to hear the Volts vs the Bics in A/B...

ok good on the pizza....was thinking u would want to put kale and spinach on it..LOL..

and good idea on the material..im sure everyone has their favorites....we can check out the demo discs I have then see what everyone else has...I got live die and repeat on black friday just for the GTG,,,,,not to mention it was only 4 bucks.

I'm thinking we should compare your Bic's vs the Volt10's vs my Dayton RS180 Towers (pretty much the DIYSoundGroup Denham speaker kit).

I'll also bring an SPL meter so we can listen to these around the same level.

That center looks like a beast! I didn't see any specs in that thread. Freq Response, SPL Sensitivity, Power Handling, etc?

Can your Denon save multiple Audyssey calibrations? Otherwise we may have to run the speakers with Audyssey off.

GTG Protocol dictates that unless the significant others are in attendance, it's bad form to make them cook. Lest ye likes being put in the dog house...

With this being a short trip for me and only being the intro GTG, refraining from adult beverages is wise. Cherry Coke is fine. Next time though...

Pizza sounds good to me too.

I got some demo discs. 2x HD-DVD and 2x Blu-Ray.

I could bring my Toshiba HD-XA2 player.

I'll bring my cheap-o SPL meter Light meters if anyone wants.

I could bring some Yamaha NS-333 Bookshelf speakers to compare too.

As we're limited on time this round, and I don't think anyone has any material for doing it, but we should forgo the blind testing. But we could use blindfolds....

And that brings me to my next point.... Chad, you're a brave soul for doing this.

i have no idea what my receiver can do with Audyssey....all i know how to do is turn it on..lol...

ok no cooking from the wife unless she wants to..she does like to bake and such..but pizza sounds like a safe bet..and cherry coke is always delicious

as long as you guys make it on time..i would think 4 hours would be plenty...and I say the more speakers the merrier..

i know this may sound dumb but im gonna ask anyways...I dont really understand how an SPL meter helps?? I mean why do u really need to know how loud its getting..or if one speaker is louder then the other speaker?

and no im not brave...i just dont know what im getting myself into..haha..

and great pic by the way

The center is a beast! I even had a guy build me a custom entertainment center to hold it. It is a sealed design, so doesn't go too low in the bass. Needs to be crossed no lower than 60hz and 80hz is better. F3 is around 70hz. It is crystal clear though and sounds excellent with movies! Not a whole lot of published data on it other than what was in that thread.

Yea I figured since we are short on time and this is the first GTG for us we should just keep it kind of informal. We'll have somewhat of a plan in place by next weekend, but mostly just wing it!

Chad is definitely stepping out of his comfort zone by doing this so... Thanks Chad!

The sensitivity of each speaker will be different so an SPL meter and some pink noise will help make sure we know what to set the dial on the receiver to for each speaker if we want to AB them back to back at teh same volume level.

so it really helps in comparing speaker A to speaker B? ok i can get that....but why have one when you arent really comparing speakers?

We are comparing. Not blind listening, but we are comparing so levels should be set roughly the same. Only takes a minute or two.
