Hey man, sorry I missed this post. Haven't been on AVS as much lately. It's a black hole that sucks you in and all concept of space/time disappear.

Anyhoo.... Need some more info. What's your budget? What's your room like? Blacked out? Multi-purpose living room? Light controlled? Do you need ALR (ambient light rejecting)? Will this be a fixed frame screen? Or do you need it to retract? What size do you want? Will it be regular 16:9 TV aspect ratio or a cinemascope 2.35:1? What projector are you using? What's your throw distance and projector placement height? Etc.

@biliam1982

I have a 13W by 16L bonus room above the garage in a rental home. I have purchased black carpet to cover the lighter carpet, and I have purchase a huge amount of black felt, and burgundy material to cover the walls and ceiling. I am looking at a fixed frame screen to go with my BenQ HT5550 DLP projector. The projector height will be about 7' and the throw distance can be anywhere between 12'4" and 14'3" front he screen.

I am contemplating the Elite Screens AEON line for an ALR screen with a 1.2 gain, or their AT screen with a 1.0 gain (If i can figure out how to mount the screen 15" off the back wall...)

Also, if you look at the room, you can see the pitched ceiling makes it difficult and east up a lot of space... I have attached a bad picture here:

I'd be happy with a full set of Volt 6's for surround and Atmos duties! (or the 8's... lol )

Dave! Good to hear from you. I really enjoyed the last one and hearing what a real dedicated theater sounds like was eye opening. I'm definitely in and we have a few new guys up in Jacksonville that would love to experience it as well I'm sure. Can you give us some idea of dates that are good for you?

I'm in Jax and am looking to purchase speakers.

Interested in PSA dual TV3612s, Rythmik FV25HPs, or JTR 2400s for bass.

Have no idea about LCR but I feel like I have been talked into getting some PSA 210T towers and 210 center.

Someone mentioned some Emotiva surrounds.

Anyone here in Jax have similar bass I can audition?

Most of us have DIY subs that range from 15" to 24". You would certainly be able to demo some insane bass in a few of our houses

hey welcome to the the Jax thread...most of us talk offline on an app called group me. we found it much easier..

we have a wide selection of bass for you to audition, however most of it is all DIY. We are all pretty much into that for our main speakers and subs...several of us have theaters you can audition...

That is some serious fire power you're looking at. Unfortunately the only person that I know of on this thread that has retail equipment is Ian. He has a couple higher level SVS subs and bookshelf speakers, but nothing like what you're talking about. I think Mike has JTRs, but he's been inactive for a long time now. Like Chad and Chris said, there's plenty of guys here in Jax that can demo some pretty heavy duty stuff. There's three dedicated theaters, a combo living room and a macked out bedroom. I don't recommend sitting on the bed, I've heard stories. Maybe one day we all need to set up a theater crawl. We could easily hit 4 rooms in a day.

Just found this thread for local peeps. I'm on Northside and finally looking to upgrade my mancave/theater in my loft to 4K and Atmos.

Have been running Klipsch/SVS combo for 5.1 with a Yamaha RX-A2010 and 82" Mitsubishi DLP for many years. Just upgraded receiver to Yamaha RX-A2080 and picked up Panasonic UB420 for 4K discs.

I've got my eye on the Epson 5050UB/6050UB and probably a Silver Ticket 125" 2.35 screen. Wanting to put 4 Atmos speakers in ceiling as well. Anybody have recommendations on installer here in jax for the projector and speakers?

Like @tarponater said, I have couple pb3000's that are possibly up for sale. But they are probably less firepower than you are looking at.

I don't know of any professional installers, most of us learn on the forums and just do it ourselves. If you decide to go DIY and need assistance, you won't have a hard time finding help on this thread.

I was looking into tackling it myself and still may consider it but time ends up being the big factor for me. Attic access is right there at my loft and with the cooler temps definitely want to tackle it soon.

Pretty cool seeing a few people on here living close by.

Intriguing.

Are those Miny Martys? What's driving those? Would love to hear this setup.

I'm definitely not opposed to DIY options and 3 1099's and some Mini Martys are not off the table. I actually have remodeled my entire house over the past 8 years with custom built-ins, closets and trim in every room. And I have mastered spray finishing as well in this process, so i'm sure that I could do some duratex spraying of speaker cabinets. I've built a full wood workshop over these years that includes a Sawstop ICS 3HP table saw as the main event. (bought that used for an awesome deal).

Just not sure if I want to deal with another project now since I just finished remodeling (all the cabinetry and trim) the entire upstairs bonus room area (which is now the 'theater') and adjacent bedrooms including wiring 3 dedicated 20amp circuits which are switched in a closet.

I've got a kitchen remodel planned for 2021 so I may just buy speakers this go around.

Still don't know yet.

they are a version of mini martys called the cyclops...the enclosures are ported on the sides..they were built by tarpanator. these are 21s...they are powered by an Inuke 6000 DSP... the 3 1099s are powered by a normal AVR...

sounds like you have been crazy busy...thats why most of us in the area use tarpanators building services..haha... we are just too busy or in my case..not a builder... you should see his theater..he has 3 24s...crazyness...

there is a guy down south going to order some 1899s or 1299s and ship them to tarpanator and he is going to assemble and finish them..i still think those will beat or on par with alot of those PSA or JTR offerings...

what part of jax are you in?
