Just seeing who might be around here!

sigteacher 07-25-2007 03:24 PM

One here. I live on the Southside

legmaker72 07-27-2007 12:26 PM

Very cool. What setup do you have? Are you pretty involved with the HT stuff?
I'm just starting out, but I think I'm going to get hooked pretty quick!

sigteacher 07-28-2007 04:39 AM

I am fairly new myself, though I found this site to be most helpful for anything you want to know/learn.

My setup

Panasonic TH-50PH9UK
Onkyo 7.1 Channel 1000 Watt HTIB HTS790
Comcast Motorola DVR
Xbox 360

A pretty basic setup, nothing too fancy. I am pretty much an HD DVD fan and I am still trying to figure out which player to get.

What about you?

Hey! I am part owner of Game Over! Video Games & More. I wonder if you've ever come in my store? I am the tall fat guy

I used to have a really similar setup to you (audio) and I loved it. I have a 7.1 Paradigm Monitor setup with a Pioneer Elite receiver...soon to be upgraded to a Emotiva Pre/Pro and amp combo.

Cinneadthe2nd 12-08-2007 11:36 PM

Anybody here collect vinyl? If we ever did have a meet, I think it would be cool to make it somewhat of a swap-meet too. I always have extra stuff (wires, sources, weird accessories...etc).

Just an idea. I can't host it because I only lease a 2 bedroom beach condo...not much room.

Where is your store Cinn? I'm a huge gamer and I dabble a bit in vinyl too. I'm definately up for visiting your store!

Kingrsl 01-09-2008 11:14 AM

Anything new about someone hosting? I'd love to check out someone else's setup and share ideas. Even just a demo/movie would be cool. Everything I have is still in my living room but will be moved into a dedicated room in the next month or so.

For anyone who is interested in driving up to Orlando:

I am trying to get a group together for a high-end listening/demo event at our Design Center. Please see the thread at: https://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...1#post16572611

Let me know if you are interested in attending, and what dates are best! THanks, Todd.

anyone still around, I see this is quite old, BTW I'm near airport, would like to some others local set ups

Mattcc22 11-17-2015 07:26 AM

Wow, just saw this old thread. Looks like it never went anywhere. I'm in Oakleaf. I have a few DIY builds going on. Unfortunately I don't have a dedicated room, so I have to make do with what my wife will let me get away with in the living room.

120" Screen
Epson 8100 projector

DIY Dayton Reference MTM tower speakers
Khancenter center channel
Volt-10LX surrounds
Tapped Horn 12" Sub in Attic

Pioneer Elite receiver
Emotiva XPA-3 Amp

Anyone else in Jax or surrounding areas interested in getting something going?

As long as someone has resurrected this thread, I live down in Nocatee. I am currently building a dedicated theater in my home, which is probably about 3-4 months from being done. I have a build thread, but I am pretty bad about updating it. When I find the time to work in my room, I need to spend it getting things done as opposed to explaining what I did. Hopefully I can get an update in there soon, as I think the last update was pre-drywall.

Just subscribed to your theater build thread. Sounds like it's coming along well. I wish I had a dedicated room like yours and if we move again that will definitely be on the must have list. I live in Oakleaf and have to make do with what the wife will allow in the living room. I have built all of the speakers that are in there now. I know you said you didn't want to build speakers in your thread, but if you change your mind, let me know if you need any help. The Volt-10 Coax surrounds from diysoundgroup are pretty awesome!

grnwnv 03-14-2016 06:55 AM

LOL. I forgot I said that, but like most people around here I have done many things I said I wouldn't do in the beginning. I am actually building all 11 speakers and 2 subs for the room. Once I started reading about speaker building, I went from being sure I didn't want to build speakers to thinking there was no other way to do it. I already built 3 1099's for my LCR's and 2 subs. I am currently constructing 8 Volt 10 LX's for the side, rear, and Atmos surrounds.

Mattcc22 03-14-2016 07:38 AM

Nice! Would love to hear the 1099's once you have everything up and running! My Dayton reference LCR speakers are nice, but I'm wanting to go the waveguide/pro audio route now. The Volt 10LX's confirmed for me that I much prefer big pro woofers over "7in reference drivers"!

we should work on a GTG sometime soon...Maybe we can include some of the other guys ive talked to and see if we cant get something going..
@Mattcc22 @grnwnv @XBR11 @Gator99 @biliam1982

maybe we can all post what we have and try to find a host for the event...my room might be a tad bit too small as its in my loft. Its a fairly small room. If he is good with it, maybe we can talk grnwnv into it...those 1099's and his room look AMAZING!!!! and I would love to hear them.

Unfortunately my system is in my living room and is an acoustical nighmare layout wise. Would not be an ideal place for a get together. I could offer to bring my Volt-10LX's and/or my Dayton Reference towers if anyone was interested and if we have a host. I'm in for sure!

Also have a few pro amps and an Emotiva XPA-3 if needed.

Matt, those Volts you have are pretty sweet..

I have 2 sealed Dayton 18's in a 4 CF box (courtesy of Matt) powered by an Inuke 3000 DSP. Also got a passive cherry MFW 15 that could come. For Speakers only have BIC America for the time being. Dont think they are newsworthy.

I could probably be convinced to host something. I am probably 98% done with my room now. I am finishing up the trim in a few places, and working on the entrance. I have not done any kind of calibration yet though, which is something I need to do. So, if I was to host something, it would have to be at least a month out since I need time to get everything just right. My room isn't huge, but I have seating for 6 in the good seats, and 6 at the bar. The back of the room can be a bit tight, but I wanted to be able to fit 12 in rare cases.

that would be great...have always wanted to experience one of these really nice theaters..hopefully we can find a good date and time that works for us all...then we dont have to watch all those guys in Illinois having all the fun...so yeah just let us know and I know for sure Matt and I are in.
