To reset the tv press and hold the power button. Have you tried turning on the devices in a different order?

Well guys its been about 2 years now with the original wd-60737. I was one of the first ones on the forum to get the new tv and I can say its still going strong! Have never had an issue yet and the bulb life is still going now after 2 years of almost 6+ hours daily use each day. Cant even tell if the bulb is fading or not, but im still loving it. It just looks to small now!

As I said in a previous post they wouldn't give me the 11.02 update unless I had a specific problem related to that update. That pretty much tells me they don't want me updating unless I have a problem.

Well, I know that Mitsubishi was only releasing updates through the mail for years and in that case they also included there own thumb drive that you had to mail back to them. I think this is a big reason why as a policy, they didn't want everybody updating. Things have changed since than and as of the latest firmware I think if they only wanted people downloading to address specific issues they would say so and not just post a link for everybody to download.

Since they haven't specified what is changed in the firmware, saying that this is just to address specific problems people are having is really just a assumption. One that is likely true, I will add.

At any rate, this is probably all a silly point to debate. If the latest firmware starts messing thins up we will likely be among the first to know.

You missed the above part of my post and recently they started emailing a link for the 11.02 update rather than mail it. I personally think this update fixes the issues getting stuck on the welcome screen.

if you have one of the models that accepts jpegs then you can connect that usb device to the TV while the power is on.
if it detects the pictures then that device is probably ok for installation.

if it doesnt detect, then there is some compatibility issue between your drive and the tv.

I did. When formatting I received the prompt that I was about to delete all the files so I assume it formatted. It's a sandisk brand USB drive that as I recalled later has a pw prompt before you can access the files. I am borrowing one from IT to try again. Thanks for the response

Wow, Mits finally put their firmware upgrades on the web? Way past time for that.

Now, if they'd only start providing a change log with them too. . . .

Does anyone know what 11.03 does that would make one want to have it rather than 11.02?

All I have noticed so far is that my lamp fan doesn't run all the time now, it cycles with the heat and the TV boot up is quicker. Be prepared to recalibrate the set again though......mine came back up after the update in brilliant mode.

There's one member where it fixed his stuck on welcome screen. Too bad for me since the update was released a week after I had the same issue and replaced my board.

I didn't lose my settings. I agree boot up seems quicker which coincides with my thought that the update is mainly for the stuck on welcome screen issues.

I don't know about other OS, but in windows when you download the same file right after finishing it will download immediately because that file is already in a virtual directory.

If you clicked "open" to start the download that's how it works but if you clicked "save" it will ask you if you want to overwrite the file or you can choose a different location to download to.

Here is the directlink for the WD-82837 http://www.mitsubishi-tv.com/files/s...V41+_11_03.zip
megaupload here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LZVICV9J
It says it is 19.2 MB. The actual details once I download it say:
V41+_11_03.zip - ZIP archive, 20,218,470 bytes unpacked size 43,260,199 bytes

Hope you've got a spare bulb at least! If not, it's probably time to have one on hand. And if you put it in and make the old one your spare, I bet you will find the new one is noticeably brighter.

I have the 73837 & my bulb hours just passed 8000 hrs on the high lamp settings with full power to the lamp. My picture still kooks awesome.
my last tv, a 65831 never went passed 4400 hrs on all 4 lamps.
I got a spare lamp 4000 hrs ago & still waiting for any sing of dimming.
This 73 looks great as my 65831 showed dimming at about 4000 hrs.

I have a WD-73837 and have had the screens cleaned but continue to have varying levels of dust and debris between the two screens. They show up very noticeably on a light background. A service tech actually told me that I will always have this issue due to the size of the screens. Is this true? Is there a way to remove this dust and debris from between the two screens?

you will only have that issue if dust has gotten between your screens.

if, for example, someone removed the screens in a non-dust free area they most surely got dust inside. its very difficult to remove all the debris, especially if you dont know what you are doing (like many service techs).

once all dust is removed and the screen assembly is properly put back together, then no debris gets between the screens.

you could have other debris on the inside cabinet or mirror though.

I don't have anything on the mirror or cabinet, its just between the screens. The techs keep making up excuses as to why they can't fix it and Mitsubishi isn't much help. Why must the screen be in two pieces anyway? Is there some technical reason why the screen has to be assembled as two pieces instead of just one? This would eliminate my problem altogether if i were just a one piece screen.

Yes there is a technical reason why the screen is 2 parts but I don't recall what it is. Regardless your main issue is your service techs are idiots. Mits should take care of it if it came that way from the factory.

I would also add that it would be tough to keep debris off the screens if they're being cleaned in an improper environment.

Hi - After spending the entire weekend fidgeting with the Mitsubishi 3D starter kit, I'm now stuck with a new issue that I can't seem to get out of. At this point I have removed all external components in order to get to bare minimum.

Current configuration:
Comcast/Motorola DCX3400 connected directly to HDMI port 1 using brand new HDMI 1.4a cable

Symptom:
Screen alternates between blue screen and a fuzzy white screen that looks almost like a UHF signal but not quite as messy. Sorry but that's the best way I can describe it. TV works fine with other devices (HTPC, Xbox), all connected via HDMI.

What I've tried, all failed:
1) Reset cable box to default settings from the maintenance menu
2) Tried cable box with both HDMI and DVI settings
3) Different HDMI port on the TV
4) Different HDMI cable
5) Swapped the cable box with an identical model from another tv. The original box works fine on the other TV, new box has same problem on WD-73837.

So I know the cable box is good because it works fine on another TV. For some reason the TV is no longer able to decode an HDMI signal from a DCX3400 cable box.

TV is at firmware version 11.03, which is the newest as of this past weekend. Is there a way to reset the TV to factory default, if that would even help? Any other ideas?

Thanks!!

When you connect the Comcast/Motorola DCX3400 to the "starter kit" 3D unit the DCX3400 reverts back to 480. You must go back into the Cablebox control menu (power off then hold menu) and change back to 1080. 3D should now be OK (remember to switch the 3D on) I use DLP glasses, not the IR Emitter and the system works very well.

I seriously doubt its dust in between the screens. I have cleaned my wd-65837 and a few others on a regular basis and have seen what you describe. What i think you are seeing is on the lens itself. You could have a smudge on the lens that is small and almost impossible to see on the lens itself but it would show up as a gray smudge on a bright screen. The best rout to take is to call your service tech back.

Because the mirror is inverted, they almost never need cleaning as dust doesn't collect on it like it does on the lens. You had better pray its not the screen because the screen is only covered by a 30 day warranty and is expensive to replace. To clean the lens you need to remove the font of your set. I have included a attachment file that explains how to do this. Be sure to have someone to help you so you don't drop the face when you release the last screw. Use a clean microfiber cloth and very carefully clean the lens. !!!warning!!! the lens is plastic and scratches easy. Don't use any chemicals on the lens. If you absolutely must use something I only recommend using monster brand screen cleaning solution. Just don't ever spray anything on the lens directly.

The good thing about cleaning the lens by removing the face vs pulling the light engine is that there is less chance of messing something up and you can also run the TV with the screen off and you can hold the screen up and see if you have got the smudge off without having to pull the whole thing apart again.
