I'm having an issue after years of using my WD60C9 where 720p content (most of the games off of my PS3) will not upscale to 1080p automatically, so I end up with a thick black frame around the game screen. This may have started happening when I got a Harmon Kardon AVR 1700 receiver, which I now run everything through using all HDMI, but I was able to do a full reset on the TV awhile back and the problem went away for a bit, but now it's back again. Tried to do a reset again, but no luck.

Anyone know if there's a way to force the Mits to upscale automatically to 1080p when it's receiving a 720p feed?

If you TV is a 1080p display it will always upscale to 1080p, it can't display 720p natively.  If you have black bars all they way around make sure the settings on the PS3 and AV receiver are correct or you don't have the wrong Zoom mode selected on the TV.

If your AVR has a pass through for video, use it, let the display handle the processing.
