I recently went through a long manual convergence in service mode (DCAM) on my Hitachi 57swx20b. This was after fixing overscan, geometry, and adjusting static focus.

a. On the two leftmost and two rightmost vertical lines, the colors are significantly out of focus. Is this normal ? Will a mechanical lens focus fix this?

b. On the outtermost edges, sometimes a little bit of color will "peak" out. Is this normal?

c. On the bottom righthand corner, I cannot get the line vertical (adjusting geometry). It bends a little inwards and will not let me adjust it further out. My horizontal overscan is 5.5% and vertical is 4%.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the same issues although I haven't done any tweaks other than the manual convergence. The left and right sides of my screen are also out of focus and I have the color leak problem as well. I can actually see a bit of the green lines which can't be adjusted through the user menu convergence. Regardless of how meticulous I am, the red, blue, and green just won't line up in those particular areas. My pic still looks great while viewing movies but I'm sure it can be much better. I'll probably wind up shelling out the cash for an ISF job - tough to live with at "really good" pic when I know it can be "great"!

Mike,

Those lines are really tight. Looks nice. Is that an AVIA grid you have up? Doesn't look like the hitachi system grid... which doesn't have any circles.

My grid in the center is very tight. However, on the right / left edges is where I have the problem. Is your grid that tight on the edges as well?

Thanks,

Steven

Mfusic,
How do you get that circular grid up on the manual convergence?

I don't see the blue blur like I have on mine.

I really would like to get hold of a service manual for hitachi 51uwx20b...link?

20b service manual is worthless. If anything, get the S500 SM. www.servicemanuals.net
