Sony Optical Block parts or service

Hi,

I convinced my step dad that SXRD was the greatest thing... And, I still love my SXRD front projectors.

However, he bought one of the last SXRD rear projectors and it's needed an optical block for years.

We missed the boat on getting any help from Sony and he just put a third bulb in the TV.... I feel sort of bad though because he has about 400% too much blue at all times.

Does anyone sell the optical block ? I'm going to visit him next week. maybe I could do the replacement.

Conversely if anyone does the job near Miami we could get it done.

I think his is KDS A 60 2020

The problem isn't with the whole optical block, but with one of the sxrd panels themselves on the block. The individual panels can be found on ebay, aliexpress, amazon, etc... generally for $60-100. Or you can look around for people getting rid of a kds-xxa2020 (xx being the size, it doesn't matter the panels are the same) or check at e-waste facilities for ones disposed of. (there are currently two with the panels you need at the e-waste near me, but they've been buried under a dirt pile for at least 6 months so I won't be pulling those and sending unless you REALLY want me to)

The part is called sxrd-211 and it's been used in many other sxrd TVs prior to the A2020 series, so you could get lucky with other models.

But basically there are instructions on how to replace the panel on the optical block online (quite a few on youtube for good visuals), however I suggest you don't try it solo as on the a2020 TVs you have to access the optical block from the back and to align it properly, you need to be able to see the screen. I did it solo with my 55a2020 and it was very annoying.
