Saw a new 5667 at Best Buy in SW MI today. It was next to the 4663 and below and in front of a Mitsubishi 55315 CRT RP. The 67 certainly had darker blacks and shadows, but expected to see more detail in the shadows and this didn't seem true. In a pan of a basketball arena ceiling, the 63 showed more detail in the shadows, but it was likely set brighter too. The 67 was very clear, compared to the 63 and the CRT. The CRT is certainly far cheaper, but appeared somewhat blurry or smeared next to the DLPs. Saw a Qualia at another shop down the street, it had excellant detail with HD, but not with SD. The viewing distance did matter with SD, you can be too close.
The 67 had better colors and more uniform lighting than the other two. Its colors did not appear strange or out of place. The picture mode was set to Dynamic. However, after seeing the Qualia, I am convinced I want to see the 1080p DLPs before I buy anything, even though I think the 67 is a definite improvement over previous units.
