TV tech question: Sony Trinitron WEGA long delay before display - KV-36FV310
I have a WEGA KV-36FV310 that I've been using OTA with a TIVO. Although it is a standard def TV, it has such a crisp picture and great color with component video that more than once I've had visitors ask whether it is a high definition TV. Since I'm kind of an old-school guy, I've been perfectly satisfied with it and decided I wasn't going to replace it until it bit the dust.
Normally, the picture would be pretty much instant on, but a few months back it began to delay displaying the picture and audio. At first it was just a few seconds, but over the months it has been taking longer and longer; now it's up to several minutes. Then, the moment it comes alive, the picture is slightly washed out and there is a single audio pop. (This is not the "snap" sound like when that high voltage cable is failing (might not be the right terminology), it is actually a single pop through the audio speakers.)
So, once the TV "warms up," which doesn't take long (maybe 15 sec's I'd say), everything is fine. It looks and sounds absolutely fine. I guess I'm going to go ahead and come into the 21st century and replace it, but if it would be possible to fix it without too much trouble I would offer it to someone else.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
