Help With Geometry on a Samsung TX-S2783

I was given a Samsung TX-S2783 Slimfit recently that I plan to use with all my non-HD gaming systems via the component inputs (using an RGB to Component converter). I know the slimfit models aren't known for their outstanding quality, but free is free and it looked decent when I tested it. After playing around with the service menu I was able to fix *most* of the geometry issues, but there are still a few issues such as the top bowing in a bit (or the left and right sides bowing up). The odd thing is that I can get the test grid (displayed using a test program on my SNES) looking more or less correct, but when I try playing a game on a different system the geometry seems to be off (bowing quite badly in the corners for example). I know different systems have different resolutions, but I wouldn't think the geometry would change between systems. Anyone have experience with using multiple game systems on a TV like this?

But the bigger issue is that the sides of the screen seem to have some blurring (noticeable with text, but still readable), is this due to the slimfit tube or is this a sign of something else like the caps going? Is there anyway to help compensate for this?

One thing I was thinking of doing was resetting the deflection options to their defaults in the service menu (writing the current values down first of course), but I'm afraid this could break my TV if it resets the options for the ENTIRE service menu. Does anyone have any experience with using the factory default feature?
