KV-32HS510 Resolution

I wanted to clear up a confusion I had about the Sony KV-32HS510.

From what I can gather, some signals, maybe all of them, get digitally processed before getting displayed. I have found some discussions which claim that this set displays things as either 1080i or 510p, although I believe that those accounts are mixing up this set (which is 4:3) with set released the following year (which are 16:9).

I have found other accounts stating that this set displays inputs as 480p and does upscaling to anything on the analog inputs (including 240p and 480i sources). To make matters more confusing, I have found others who claim that this "upscaling" is only performed on particular inputs; possibly just on the DVI, or maybe just on the component inputs.

Can anyone please help me to know what resolution(s) this set is actually displaying sources at?

For more background, I am mostly planning to use it for games and DVDs. This information is important because I have systems at 240p which would need to be upscaled to 480p before being input to the monitor (in order to avoid processing lag) and because I have 480p systems and DVDs that I would like to play on the set as well, and I don't know if they will end up as 480p or some weird, processed 540p hybrid.

Pic of the set is included.

Thanks,

Brian

I believe the TV itself is capable of receiving 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i signals. That said I believe that the composite and s-video inputs (on any consumer TV) are only capable of receiving 480i. I think the TV will upconvert composite and S-Video to either 480p or 960i. Yes I wrote 960i.

Component inputs on this TV should accept 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i signals. I believe the TV will display them as 480p or 1080i depending on the input source.

I am not sure what the DVI input will accept and display as - but probably all the way up to 1080i.
