Careful

Is b&h authorized seller?

If not you won't get the rebate.

eek.gif Looks like they're in my sweet spot! Now to find a mule for me to claim the MIR (I'm in Canada.) biggrin.gif

fwiw - I used live chat with Panasonic Business Solutions and they confirmed that B&H is an authorized retailer.

u are correct! there is also a site called iBcart.com selling new units for $1899 w/o rebates. they are also offering a 4year extended warranty for about $69.99.

I have dwelt with B &H with satisfaction in the past but I do not know anything about iBcart.com

Buy PT-AE8000U $1899 - iBcart.com

Secondly I don't know who their warranty company is. something like this:

http://www.ajrichie.com/4-Year-Audio-Extended-Warranty-Up-To-2500/p-1235

This is bad I'm correcting myself. IBcart.com appears to be promoting the following site:

http://www.ajrichie.com

The header says this day only but it has been over a week.

The warranty is 4-Year-Audio-Extended-Warranty-Up-To-2500

Interesting though.

anyone know anything about either of these?

That's an exceptionally good deal from B&H. For a projector that's considered a more robust black performer than any of the existing Epsons, you really can't beat that. Do we assume Panasonic is trying to clear stock to prepare for some earth-shattering announcement at CEDIA? 4k LCD for under $3k? No, surely not.

Audio General now also has the AE8000 for $2249.00 plus the rebate makes it $1899.00 for a legitimate PJ.

With the ending of the rebate on September 30, 2014 it does make one suspect a new offering for a October release is in the works.

Or perhaps they are dumping projectors altogether just like they stopped producing plasma HDTV's. Mitsubishi's exit is a notable example.

Both of these possibilities worry me for opposite reasons, lol...

I don't keep up too much with products since I finished my setup. I currently run a Mitsubishi HC4900 so it's disappointing to hear that they left the PJ game.

If they are putting these to EOL, I suppose it's now a game of risk to guess the best price point vs. remaining availability.

That's funny, as the $2249 price wasn't offered when I made my purchase yesterday - but there it is advertised as such on their site now. What a rip. I emailed them and asked them what the deal is? If they dropped the price $50 yesterday, and I made my purchase yesterday, I should have been offered the price as well, not $2299.

The comment I made above was when the price still reflected $2299 and I was like "shrug" as I didn't see what you were seeing. But as I said, if the price was indeed $2249, I should have gotten that price as well. I made the purchase well after you made this post.

Yes, I think you're right, either could happen. I do think CEDIA is going to be an intriguing show this year with a lot of big players jockeying for position. Not only will manufacturers be fighting to be the first to make 2160p chips and lenses affordable in PJs (what I suspect Panny and Epson are up to), I also think object-based audio is going to start making some ripples, particularly after the Datasat Auro-ready pre-amp launch earlier this year. Apologies if I've taken this thread too far off-piste.

Could have been a cookie thing or browser cache?

Good luck with the match. I inquired of visual apex if they would match the $1900 after rebate price of B&H this morning at 8AM and got no response. I saw on their website policy list that they do not offer price guarantees -- so your only option might be to cancel and order with B&H if you can wait another week for shipment.

So, neither Audio General or Visual Apex offer price protection, they are both just pricematching B&H.

It was shipped out this morning. Got a tracking number already.

See, the thing was, and it might have been a cookie, but I don't think so, but the thing was, I placed the order after their cutoff time, which is 11am (PT) or 1pm (ET). I made my order at 12:47 (PT) and the price was still $2299. Feeling good about this, I went to AVSForum to do some research, found the thread that VA dropped it by $50.. and was like, "huh?" And went back to the site, refreshed, added it to my cart, and it was still $2299. I did this from my work computer, and did it again when I got home from my home PC.

IDK, it's still a great price & free shipping, but I don't like the practice. If I hadn't been charged yet, and it shipped out the next business day (today), then the price should have reflected the current price. I mean, I didn't even get the invoice until this morning at 9:12am (PT). I guess I'll be giving them a call.

Ok, I gave them a call and they made a price adjustment. Apparently I wasn't the only one affected by the sudden price drop - and I will be receiving a refund of the difference. I'm sure glad I decided to stop by AVSForums, and I'm glad you guys made a post, otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten the adjustment - because I had to ASK for it. /smh The cust. srvs. rep mentioned that it should have been caught automatically, but since I checked out with PayPal... still, I wouldn't have gotten the adjustment had I not seen this thread, so thanks guys! I can use this $50 for more glasses if needed.

Good to hear they honoured the lower price for you.

I just pulled the trigger myself @ Audio General for $2249. I spoke to Eric and explained that I am from Canada, and he assured me that he will provide whatever invoice with addresses I need to qualify for the rebate smile.gif Very nice to speak with. Thanks Eric!

The fellow as Apex was very nice too, but they are based in WA, so I would have had to pay tax to order from there. I'd rather have it ship from PA and wait a week to skip on some taxes lol

Just noticed VisualApex is not listed as an authorized resller (which seems ridiculous as they have the authorized logo).
http://www.panasonic.com/about/view-all-home-authorized-retailers.asp

B&H is listed under the camera and camcorder link.

Have to be weary when buying from non-authorized resellers: Click here for example

If they don't have this displayed on the product page, I would contact Panasonic first before buying.

Just checked the status and it's already here in town being re-routed to my local FedEx Office for pickup. This was much faster than I hoped for biggrin.gif

By the way, I picked up a couple of these [iR glasses] off of Amazon. They are/were $12.95, Prime. Hopefully they will be compatible.

I put the link in my post. Notice how some of the words are blue? That's the link. I got them from Amazon Click Here

They work great by the way. Flawless with the AE8000U and a 3DBD player. I haven't got them to work through my HTPC and the AE8000U yet, but I'm ok with using the 3DBD player.

Edit -

Ok, I got the 3D to work through Stereoscopic Player, but not with PowerDVD 12 or TMT5 (yet). It's really nice to know that all this time I wasn't really limited to using 3D Vision.

Edit -

I figured it out. You don't even need PowerDVD, TMT5 or Stereoscopic player to watch your 3D movies on the Panny. All you need to do is set Windows display resolution to 60hz and use Windows Media player (if that is all you have) and play your SBS movie. Once the movie is playing and you see the two images on the screen (you probably want to make sure you're viewing the movie in full screen mode, not windowed mode), press the 3D button on the remote, change the on screen menu item from Auto to Side-by-Side and you're in business. Turn on 3D glasses, too. I'm using an old GTX 460 video card and a old HDMI cable in my HTPC. This projector really is a bargain and was easy to set up and get going.

If I have not messed up the math, B & H now has the post rebate price down to $1880 and is advertising a bit more than usual. .

$2229.99 - 350 =$1879.99 !

I sent a contact us e-mail request to b&h asking for a price match on my last week's order for $2249 - to the current price of 2229, or at least consideration for a store credit. We'll see if they approve.

I've also contacted AGI to price match my order. I only received it 2 days ago. I'll report back when I get a response.

Update: I've been informed that they are unable to pricematch the difference, which is disappointing.

What mount did you guys purchase?

I'm looking at the Chief RPMA181 probably, unless there is other solid advice. I want a solid mount for this projector.
