hi everybody, ive been reading the many posts on this site regarding the lcd tv blue light polarizer problems with great interest. i have a sony kdfe50a12u here in the uk, i striped it down recently to clean the optics and to see why i was getting the yellow tint in the centre of the screen, sure enough the blue light path polarizer is damaged but luckily the lcd panel is good.

after searching the web for parts and found no new replacements, here in the uk there are no good used examples to get parts from so im going to have try and make a polarizer from sourced materials, there are rare posts that state that they have successfully built a polarizer from parts but they dont give the info of where the parts come from.

can anybody give me any info on the correct material used in the blue light path polarizer and where i can get the sheet material, ive seen the material described as orange coloured blue input polarizer but ive seen it sold as amber or copper coloured?

i cannot see why i cant make a small square of this material between to thin glass panels and fix it to the original polarizer frame.

any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

This model Sony is a rear projection unit and it would be best to post in that forum.

There is also a long running thread over on the AVForums.com website.
