I really love my pa70g, I use it as my everyday PJ, since I can turn it off and on , anytime I want, and it should last a number of years, just like all my hdtv's.
Now, for movie night/football night in more lighting conditions, I use 1080p bulb PJ, since it's 2,000 lumens and I could go bigger screen sizes and have a few lights on in room.
I guess if you don't have any led PJ, maybe hold off and see how this LG pa80g gets reviewed. And see what promotional price is available.
Even if I didn't own a 1080p bulb PJ, and just had 720p LED LG model, I think I would be ok, but , I would have to limit myself to super dark room, and there have been times when I was with others and the lighting conditions for the 720p LED was too faded, so I would turn on the 1080p bulb PJ and it came to the rescue. So even at 1,000 lumens of the new model, as long as you have "dark room" you should be good to go. But if you think of these LED's as everyday PJ for kicking around, and then using the 1080p bulb for kick butt viewing in afternoon or with people, or xbox ONE playing. You not only save the bulb hours, but make 1080p bulb viewing more like a theater experience.
My 1080p bulb PJ is suppose to have 6,000 hours bulb life, so if I only use it 10-20 hours a week it would last years before I had to replace it, and use the LED PJ for everyday tv , light viewing stuff since it has 30,000 hours on it. Just a thought.
