I'm about to replace an old PT-AX100u with the new PT-AR100U in a totally dark theater. The mount is 16' away from a fixed Carada 108" screen. I was shocked to see that using Projector Central's calculator for these specs, the old AX100 was actually brighter "out of the box" than the new AR100 will be. Am I missing something here ??????

If you are using the Projector Central calculator there is likely a problem.

Use the Panasonic calculator.

http://panasonic.net/avc/projector/calculator/html/cal_menu.html

Go Wide Aspect. Choose Home Cinema Projector. Then PT-AR100U. Input diagonal screen size and press calculate for lux.

108" screen yields 871 lux.

Go back to original menu and find Previous Models drop-down, scroll down PT-AX100.

108" screen yields 622 lux.

Thanks very much....that's more like it. At Projector Central the calculator gives the old AX100 - 21FL and the new AR100 only 18FL at 16 feet....strange.
