What an awesome little projector!  100x better than my replacement Sharp Vision xv-z10000.  Brightness is perfect as are the colors.  Have not tried the wireless hdmi yet or 3d.

Let me know if I can answer anyone's questions about this projector.

Since it doesn't sound like you need WHDMI, what was your reasoning to get the W1500 over the W1070?

Not many owner reports on this yet. I have two different locations I'm reviewing which have different mounting distance requirements, so this unit's extended zoom range is of interest to me.

There have been mixed opinions on how solid the WHDMI is. Your experience with it would be good to know. I could use it for placement in an adjacent room and project through a window for silent operation, if it is reliable.

Also... How do you like its Frame Interpolation? How's the fan noise?

Based on the paperwork that came with the projector, it's Max distance for a 100 inch diag screen was 150 inches.  This is where I placed mine.  It's also roughly 15 inches from the ceiling.  I can take photos if anyone is interested.

As far as the fan noise, it's whisper quiet....now this is based on my old xv-z10000, which was VERY loud.

I'll report back on the wireless HDMI.  Going to attach it to my Microsoft Surface and see how it behaves.

For the frame interpolation, I am still messing with the settings to see what is optimal for movies, games, etc.

I think I may have an expert come over and help me tune it properly.....  I've got an Xbox One, and it has a pretty good Display tuning wizard..

One thing I like to do with Frame Interpolation displays is tune them to Turner Classic Movies and watch old Forties black & white movies (Bogart, etc). The effect is a little erie, I admit, but it gives them a modern feel that I find appealing. And adding an extra layer of smooth to the already-fluid Fred Astaire dance sequences looks "too real" for belief.

(However... to an X-Boxer, probably a little out of time for you guys...)

Well, unfortunately my Kinect is on the back left hand side of my media room because the cable is not long enough to reach to the front.  I've been voicing my opinion on an extension cable way before XB1 came out.  My hope is that either Monoprice or Nyko will create one soon.  I need at least 20 ft more.

I do still have my 360 hooked up, so I could test Kinect v1 if you want.

BTW, if anyone is interested, I've uploaded the W1500 User Manual to my skydrive folder here:

Fyi-- Kinect has a lens that you can purchase and add that makes the useable area much bigger. Works pretty good on my front projector setup. Not sure about xbox one kinect but im sure there is one also.

I believe what you are referring too is the Nyko Zoom product which is only for Kinect v1 (xbox 360).  The new Kinect v2, has a much wider field of view.

BTW, if you want Monoprice to create a cable extender for Kinect v2 (xbox one), check the following link:

Wireless HDMI works fine using a Denon receiver HDMI output for my w1500. However I only use HDMI cable since I already had the cable from my old projector.

What sort of distance are you talking? I mean could WHDMI be a problem if for instance you'd have your source in the next room, behind a wall/door?

For more testing details.

Thanks, some review there. :P

All they have to say regarding the dongle range is

"While the wireless HDMI performance is fine – the signal is lossless (no degradation), and range is certainly acceptable within one room, and likely able to work if the source is in a nearby room."

Is that sentence even gramatically finished? One would expect a caveat after the whole "while" part...

Anyway if the signal is losless within one room as they say, then how is it only "acceptable"? And "likely able to work in a nearby room"? If they didn't bother to test this it makes me wonder if they tested the WHDI feature at all...

Could you maybe please test this for me, moving the projector to an adjacent room (closing the door)?

OK I tried the wireless HDMI using my WiiU in a bed room on the second floor and it works fine w/o any drops. I tried it for about 10 minutes.
The W1500 is on table top about 1.2 Ft off the floor in my 8 Ft ceiling family room on the 1st floor. With 2x10 floor joist with carpet in the bed room upstairs. This bed room is on top of the family room where the w1500 is located. So I would say the W1500 and the WiiU is about 13FT apart and separated by the ceiling wall. I would say this test is more stress than adjacent room case.

And your efforts are muchly appreciated here, kind sir. smile.gif

Although, I reckon the WiiU only outputs 720p max so who know what would happen with a 1080p source?

The WiiU can output native 1080p/60Hz.
