Hi,

For few years I have an Acer H5360BD 3D Video Projector.

I was very happy whit it until few weeks ago when dots of dust start to appear on my screen.

I tried with my vacuum cleaner without disassemble the projector, not success.

I tried to disassemble, but, to be honest, where i am now, i don't have enough tools, i have only a screwdriver and that's it. I cannot remove the first circuit board. I assume that it has 2 screws on the VGA plug

FOR ALL THE DESIGNERS AND THE ARCHITECTS IN THE WORLD, PLEASE, I BEG YOU, DON'T PUT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF A DEVICE LAST WHEN ASSEMBLING SOMETHING. :))

Does anyone have a schematics for disassemble this type of projector? or any idea how should i clean the dust ?

Thanks in advance,

Is it dust or is it a bright white dot like a pixel has gone full white? Acers are unfortunately known for the DMD chip being undercooled and dying. The symptoms are stuck white pixels.

BTW - dust will show up as a slightly defocused/dark area on the screen since a small blob of dust is blocking a large and irregular portion of the projected image when it is small then blown up.

Hi,

After a closer look, apparently i don't believe is dust.

There a a lot of perfect square dots. white, black, some of them flick between red and black or white.

They are dead pixels.

As you can see in the picture attached, definitely is not dust.

Can i fix it? or should i buy another one? :)

What parts should i replace?

Thanks in advance,

I'd contact Acer and see if they can help you. Probably not worth repairing a sub $500 projector out of pocket, even if you do the work yourself. The DMD is likely about $150+ retail.

I wouldn't get another Acer, this is very common with them which is immediately what I thought of when you mentioned dust. Unfortunately once the failure has started it usually accelerates and gets worse.
