Hello all,

I have a 12x18 ft basement living area that I am looking at turning into an entertainment/theater room and need some help picking out a projector that I would like to mount on the ceiling. The room does have a pretty big window and a walk out area. The wall next to the walk out area is where I would like to put a 100in screen. And the room does have a ceiling mounted light.

I would primary use the projector for gaming (ps3/4/pc), connecting my laptop, and movie watching. 1080p native resolution/great picture (1900x1200 support is a plus) (aka good picture quality), being very quiet and good lamp life are important for me. Budget is about $1200, but am flexible (though prefer cheaper).

From the projectors I've looked at, the Optoma hd25-lv with it's throw distance seems like a good fit, but some reported a buzzing noise and I didn't see people praising the warranty as compared to with EPSON projectors.

Any help with picking out a good projector and any other advice?

Here are pics of the room, if it helps:

Ceiling with light fixture..

The wall I'm looking at putting screen on, would cover most of the width, be above the outlets and below the vent area...

With a long a narrow room also consider the Infocus IN8606HD which has a throw ratio that goes up to nearly 2.1. It depends where you intend to have the projector mounted. As its new out in November there aren't any reviews out for it yet, I took the plunge based on the throw ratio though. Seems good compared to prvious Optoma HD27 and Infocus X10, but I expect the same can be said of the HD25.

Two year swapout warranty.
