I'd just go with a 65-70" plasma or LCD. If you max out the screen size for a projector you'll have issues with reflected light off the walls and ceiling that will impact PQ - blacks and shadow details will be washed out unless you are willing to do a lot of treatment to the room to control reflections.

I actually ordered this projector last week, based on what my basement dimensions will allow I may have to use most of the zoom to install it. If I have it back at 15' the projector will cast the image over my seating position. I have a low ceiling in basement. If I have it between 13 and 12', it should be ok. Of course I could have gone with a smaller screen to avoid this issue but I want the largest screen the room will allow. You would also want to leave room for a black border around screen so I'd actually take a few inches off for that.
