New 1080p Pico - XGIMI H1

Well, this is another one in the 1080p Pico market as far as I can tell, and I'll be darned if I've ever heard of this company before.

I'm typically a huge naysayer of brands I've never heard of, but their website is well done, and the partnership with Harmon Kardon for audio certainly adds some legitimacy to the product overall.

They don't go crazy with claims either which I like. 900 lumens, 1080p native, 4K support. It talks things up a good deal, but the website is solid and you can actually get a manual.

Looks like it may be MSRP of about $899. They have some pre-pricing of $700 which is good.

May be a nice competitor to the PF1500 upon release.

http://www.xgimi.com/h1.html

But, it is a startup and not sure if anyone has used their other product with the experience to know what quality is.

"H1 builds in an HDMI 2.0 port with 18Gbps broadband transmission, all while supporting 60FPS 4K
visuals. That means you can play XBOX, PS4 or other game consoles on the H1 via HDMI 2.0
- without lags, skips or pauses."

And DCI P3.

uhmmm......

There have been a few stories about XGIMI. ZDNet reports that XGIMI already has more than 50% of pico projector sales in China.

The native res of this guy is 1280x800 so it's not even 1080p, has only 700 lumens, and costs more than a w1070 which has 3x the lumens and is real 1080p.

Everything about this is crap.

XGIMI's older Aurora Z4 is native 1280x800 and is currently selling for $649. Their new H1 is native 1920x1080 with "early bird" pricing of $699. Unfortunately there's a lot of silly exaggeration in XGIMI's marketing that strains credulity, like a comparison table showing the 1,400 lumen LG PF1500 producing a maximum image size of 120" compared to 300" for the 900 lumen H1. By my rough calculation a 900 lumen projector filling a 300" screen would produce an eye-melting image of about 1 fL. So there's plenty of reason to be skeptical.

It's china, there's no regulation on this at all.

They could advertise 8k or 12k resolution if they wanted to. No way to really know until you or somebody reputable reviews one.

Are you lumping me in with folks who are actually reputable? I'm not an early implementer of Chinese projectors, and as far as I can tell so far I haven't missed anything.

Interesting video; the 4K looks pretty sharp. I wonder if it is actually resolving that resolution:

Thanks!

I think it down converts the 4k to 1080p but it still looks good to me.
Cheap Chinese - but if you are looking for a stop gap - this might work ???

1.39-1.5:1 projection ratio I think, but can't find the throw offset. The website doesn't load on my phone.

I wonder if this unit will allow for the WCG of 4K Blu-ray without HDR since the HDMI is compliant.

I'm interested in this or the new Vivitek of they can really push out close to 1000 lumens. Not needing to worry about turning on and off the projector all day is a wonderful thing with 9 people (4 kids) in the house.

I think you are taking about Vivitek Qumi Q8. If yes, you might be aware that Q8 does not have a zoom lens.

Yes, thanks, but it would work out fine in my room luckily. Just need to see about real brightness and lag times.

That's just great. I also see LG PF 1500 as a competitor in this segment. I haven't taken a demo yet though.

All the players in the low end are Chinese except the Epson HC2040 anyways, so I'm not sure where that all Chinese stuff is crap comes from anyways.

There are obviously many low end models beyond the Epson HC2040 from established name brand companies headquartered outside of mainland China. Some are headquartered in Taiwan which most consider separate from mainland China. The "Chinese stuff is crap" comes from evaluations of low end models from manufacturers with names not known to the global market outside of mainland China. In some cases the pricing of the junk models is not far off models with proven performance from established global brands.

I live in Taiwan, and most of the stuff designed in Taiwan is produced in China. In fact, it's better that way. Outside of TSMC, the factory conditions are horrible here. I can't believe how dirty and out of date most factories are, probably because all investment and development has moved to China. Many Taiwanese workers would rather live and work in China now as well. The difference between Chinese Chinese and Taiwan Chinese is that the Chinese Chinese are still willing to work hard. Hell the workers in Taiwan complained, and were granted, an extra labor day holiday because there was bad weather on the first holiday. That's ridiculous.

That said, I do understand there is a lot Chinese crap, but almost all segments of most tech have a respectable choice of Chinese design or manufacturing.

I really hope this one is close to 900 lumens of real output and has low lag because it's prefect for my uses. (Getting powered cycled frequently and used for TV, sports and video games.)
Plus it will be on Amazon where I'd only lose a hundred bucks or so if I don't like it.

This is the 3rd Pico LED projector using the .47" TI 1920x1080 chip to my knowledge.

Certainly LG advertises 1,400 lumens, and doesn't come close.

I'm not going to be praising, or hating, on this model until it comes to market and some people get their hands on it and give it a fair shake. So many of the cheap Chinese imports have no US presence, or a completly worthless website, and certainly don't partner with Harmon Kardon for audio. So, I have higher hopes. Obviously MOST manufacturers claim an image size up to 300" diagonal, and they all are just stupid since the brightness doesn't support it.

But, if it delivers 700-800 lumens, then it's a direct competitor to the LG for sure, and the Qumi. Which is certainly worth some consideration depending on price and features. The Android OS built in may offer some nice streaming functionality that others may lack.

But, you know, gotta take caution.

The new Acer K650i becomes the 4th. Like LG, Acer also claims 1,400 lumens.

I have this H1 XGIMI projector for a couple months and I'm actually love it, it's my second XGIMI projector. I purchased it on Amazon for $1000
Before I had Acer H9500 (such a junk) after my extended warranty had inspired the projector broke down.
This projector is very bright with VIVID color, Android 5.1 build it, very quite, the sound quality is amazing or even I can wirelessly connect it to my sound system as Bluetooth much better than i've heard before on "famous" brands.
In my live I had about 6 projectors and nothing will compare with this my favorite.
I like to watch 3D, it plays all my 3 files, 3D ISO, FULL HD sbs and half sbs, over and under, any file works fine, the picture is bright and sharp.
The projector is very light, for me it's not taking too much to connect it, since it has Android I just turn on Power and watching whatever I like.
Before I preferred to watch any movie on my 4K Samsung LED, because the projector that I've had didn't have so many vivid colors even with cost of $1500.
This projector works flawlessly, din't regret at all

Can you use the Android version of Kodi on it?

Are you using HTPC on HDMI for 3D BD ISOs or does it play them over the Ethernet connection fron a NAS directly?

How about lag? Any sync issues or issues playing games?

What is the offset? Bottom of picture at lens center?

Could you please clarify which projector you are talking about? There is no X1 on XGIMI website and H1 mentioned in this thread does not seem to be avaliable yet.

Could you please post some videos and photos of the projector in action. If possible, please share them with some Blu ray content on it.

I've checked the videos posted on the xgimi site itself. The black level seemed to be a bit washed out in those videos.
