Too bad!
Fortunately Ronny shared his settings, I´ll take them to test my future UHD65.

Thanks

Yes,

same happens to my paid subscriber account. Mailed may times but no response yet. What a shame.

But I saved the whole full paid UHD65 report via PDF. I dont know if it allowed to post these settings here?
The settings have a very dim and washed out look result, so dont worry about it.

I think is not allowed, but no sure.

Do you think your settings get better image?
What size is your screen?

I´m trying to know if for 150" screen size with this projector I´ll get a very good image (and 4K of course!)

@RoNNy379CH

I would also like to know if your calibration produces better image than ProjectorReview's! Thanks!

Yes,

i like my changing more - they produce a colorlike (but not over popped vivid style) picture and not to all costs trimed down limited rec709 picture like the forum settings.

I contacted with Projectorreviews.com thru Facebook:

" Hi Rodrigo, we just transitioned to the new site, having some problems with existing subscribers. Our webmaster is working through it. Meantime, if there's calibration info for a specific projector you need, email me at [email protected] . com"

We are planning on replacing our aging mobile on our property with a new one, with a family room. I was looking at a 65" 4K, when I stumbled on this projector. Needless to say, I'd rather spend the extra and use the 120" Screen we have in storage. I'll spend a few days reading through and if I come up with any questions, I'll be sure to add them here.

Well, you'll get great black levels, that's for sure, unclear if you're going to get a bright enough picture. Only you can determine that if you try it.

BTW, I just watched the Blade Runner UHD 4K blu-ray. I moved my seating position much closer than usual as I have noticed I can't really see much difference between 4K and 1080p from my normal seating position. I was at about 11ft vs usually 18ft from my 106" screen.

I didn't know what DLP rainbows were until today. Now I know. I started seeing them during the beginning titles of Blade runner - white on black background, and fading. And on subtitles too. Didn't see any rainbows on any images, though, that's the good news. I'm the kind who reads all the credits at the end of movies but this was made a bit more difficult today.

Sitting close, I was a bit surprised by the 4K transfer of the movie. Most of the scenes had a lot of grain. But a few scenes had none whatsoever, and clearly had some sort of digital noise reduction applied. The difference really jumped at me between scenes. I could see compression / digitization artifacts too. Much more impressed with the Atmos soundtrack than the 4K picture in this particular Blu-ray.

Can you save post calibrated settings for Reference, Vivid and HDR?

Sorry if this has been answered previously, but after I changed the settings for Reference, Vivid and HDR (using the projector review subscriber settings)…the only settings that are saved are the CMS settings….all others return to their default/pre calibrated settings.

The post calibrated settings are saved for the next few hours, but when I turn on the projector a day or too later, the settings are all back to pre calibrated ones (except for CMS...which specifically asks if I want the settings to be saved)

Does this sound like an issue with my particular projector?
Any help would really be appreciated.

Oh and does anyone know how firmware is being handled (can it be done by USB or does it have to go back to a service centre)?
Thanks again

Hey
thanks so much for your reply....sorry if I'm a little slow, but it appears that the "tint" and "color" options in the first settings are deactivated (not even greyed out)
I'll attach a pic if that helps
Is this normal?
I've also just put another post about my post calibrated settings not being saved....so I don't know whether my projector has to be returned for service/firmware update

Cheers,
There are no tint and color setting outside of pure color when you are using CMS. That is your tint and color. You should use those settings.

Dolby Vision is not available for projectors currently. I have not heard of an ETA either, and it may require extra hardware - so probably a far way down the road.

That is a great picture - making me want to sell my Sony HW40ES and get the UHD65
Do you notice any rainbow effect?

I cant see any rainbow effect on the UHD65.

I start my projector experience a long time ago all with DLPs. My last projectors were all DLP units HC1500/HC3100/HC4000/HD90+ and now the UHD65. All my units are functional in my storage too.

I like the pixel accurate sharp picture of DLPs and no banding issues also.

It also involves licensing from Dolby, which would cost extra money. That would likely bring the cost of the projector up. Best case would be through a paid-for firmware update, but that is unlikely IMO for a projector at this price point. Hardware vendors rarely add features through firmware updates, mostly bug fixes.

Based on reviews, I don't think the projector can really take advantage of the full 10 bit of HDR10 color info, let alone 12 bits that Dolby Vision provides. It may be a moot point. Not sure what happens if you put a Dolby Vision disc in a player - will it be able to truncate/convert the 12 bit color info down to HDR10 to send to the projector ? I would assume it would at least be able to downconvert/play in non-HDR 8 bit color somehow, otherwise the audience for the disc would be very limited. I'm very new to this HDR thing.

Not only that Dolby Vision in current form needs to know the brightness on screen, so there would need to be a hardware light sensor add on or some calibration.

In other words not happening for UHD65.

Do they not release updates and would we be able to do them ourselves or have to send in the unit.

Optoma processed an RMA for my uhd65 to update the firmware. The decision from Optoma was that at least the first update had to be performed by the service center.

Their web site show the UHD65 as a new product...

I emailed them and they didn't reply.

I have heard the new Sony's chips are capable of being FW upgraded with DolbyVision. I'm sure it would only be the models with the AutoCal feature/sensor so it could be used to read the peak brightness off the screen to implement it properly.
