I've only got 11.2ft to my 120" projector screen, currently the throw calculator says it will only do 107", is there zoom in the lens to enable me to get out to 120?

The 60 and 65 will shine a 69 to 110 inch diagonal image from 11-2. Yes there is zoom in that lens but at 11-2 you've used it up before you get a 120 image . Can you recess the projector in the wall to gain some inches? Also make sure you are measuring to the lens not the mount.

Hi Guys,

I don't often post and am about to ask a very, very subjective question but here goes...I have a little 4K/HDR content that I have been watching on limited basis through a Samsung 8000 series TV but I have so little content and will likely have only limited content for the near future. Dragging out the UHD player and watching on that TV is acceptable for the foreseeable future. What I am interested in is how everyone sees the 1080p reproduction of this unit relative to some other much cheaper options (Optoma x142). I realize some of the specs, particularly contrast, will definitely favor the UHD60/65, but if you can actually achieve that differential in real world setting is questionable IMHO. I have also seen in this thread that the simulated HDR setting is less than desirable. So, in a nutshell, what better 1080p performance are you getting in this projector for the costs because for me, the 4K/HDR aspect is very intriguing but is not compelling because of my limited content.

Vertical digital shift ?

Has anyone or can anyone test the limits of the vertical image shift ? Not the LENS shift, but the digital image shift that may or may not allow a 2.40:1 bluray movie to be shifted so the active content area begins at the top of the screen. That combined with the zoom lens should allow the use of the zoom method for CIH changes back and forth between 16:9/2.40:1 on a 2.40:1 screen without using the vertical lens shift.

The user manual shows adjustment from -100 to +100 but doesn't indicate if that is in pixels or some other value. It would need to be able to digital shift over 500 pixels vertical for CIH zoom without using lens shift.

Wouldn't it have to shift down 270px ? (2160 / 8) Approximately, of course, since each letterbox movie can have a slightly different amount of vertical pixels in use, and since it's centered, it's half of the total black space vertically that needs to be shifted. (typically 1/4 of the screen is black so 1/8th for the bottom letterbox only).

But that's a good question. Without motorized zoom it's going to be annoying to do CIH with fullres 16:9 by hand anyway.

Yes, you're right. I was counting all the black bar space. My bad.

If it is just zoom and focus that needs manual adjustment, that is still better than also needing to adjust lens shift. Plus, lens shift -- even if there was enough shift range -- would throw the top black bar onto the wall or ceiling above the screen. Digital image shift would leave just the area below the screen to mask a double-thick black bar.

Yes, reading the first user reports I can't help but wonder what kind of front projector had been previously used (if any) and whether all these users have abandoned 1080p Blu-rays in favor of UHD Blu-rays.

Thanks bigmouthinDC. Unfortunately the width of the room is fixed and there is no ability to recess into the wall. Good point it's to lens so I may even have a few inches less.. Need to determine if I can cope with the <110 inch screen...

Yup, it is a crappy projector that nobody should buy but sold out and we are waiting.

Painted my theater ceiling this weekend dark blue. Now even my Epson 3100 looks better. Ready for the low Lumin output.

Cut a hole in the wall and shine it from the adjacent room? I saw a professional plan where a projector was in a cabinet over the refrigerator in the adjacent room.

So , I was an owner

I will say the image is excellent! Sharp and very detailed. I'm on a 92" screen and the brightness and clarity was there. The lag IS NOT playable if you game with the 65. The image was so good I just hope the 60 is playable. Like not its ok but a sure fire YES it awesome

I hope people do heed that. Most people who serious game are not going to want the 65. For me gaming is not a big deal. Do a little but video/movies is most important so willing to trade the lag for that.

I think he has a 60 if I remember correctly.

Guys, i am seriously considering one of these Optoma projectors. Keen to get a 4K projector, an upgrade from my Benq

aside from 3D, are there any key features missing from these projectors ?

What are the main differences between the UHD60 v UHD65 ?

thanks
