Here is my setup of the UHD60 and some screen shots from The Mummy in 4K HDR.

After doing some tweaking I think I finally settled into what looks good. I needed to make sure the projector was below the ceiling fan to hit the pull down screen. I love the mount I purchased. It's very versatile and will move to just about any position.

This projector is amazing. Miles ahead of any 1080p projector Optoma has released before. Even non-4K content looks fantastic.

I did find out real quick that any copper cable over 25 feet would not work for 4K HDR. I needed to purchase a fiber optic HDMI cable to do the job. The cable needed to be at least 30 feet. The fiber cable I got is 33 feet. It works great!

The first tweak I would have done would be to paint out that white room.
Glad you are happy with the Optima, but no projector is going to look amazing in that environment.

That looks sick Chris, let me know when I may swing by from Austin and take a closer look before mine comes in the next week or so. PM me.

With the room painted a lighter color, the problem isn't as bad as you think. Saying that no projector will look amazing is a bit presumptuous. Besides, not everyone can afford a dedicated home theater room.

......and some shots with less lighter images.

The Black level iss not so good as my older Optoma HD91 but the new one have twice lumens 2200 as the older unit with only 1000 lumes.

But with 2200lumen he have more power for bigger pictures as my present small 126" screen.

One wall inside the house have a white 210" surface.

THIS!!

I got the UHD65 and it has an amazing picture! The lag was very bad so I decided to return it and try the 5040UB. That 4k image has nothing on the UHD65 so I returned it and am waiting on the UHD60 now. Assuming right now the 60 has the picture the 65 has it will be a win win for me. Especially at $500 less

Finally got the screen and projector up and here is my review from a newb's point of view. Keep in mind I have high expectations that are rarely met when it comes to performance of just about anything. With that said...WOW...exceeds all expectations!! Pretty much the same reaction when I saw 4k on my tv for the first time. Great picture..you cant go wrong at this price. Two vids below 1 from youtube via hdmi from macbook pro and the second is the revenant from sony 4k player. Everything is out of the box with no tweaks I think in HDR mode. Last night I thought the projector was a little loud at times...had sort of a buzzing noise to it...but the speaker sounded pretty good if that matters to anyone. Once my rack is installed and I can view and hear in atmos i will be a very happy camper!

In case you are curious, that noise is the XPR pixelshifting mechanism doing its thing to make 4K UHD resolution. Most pixelshifting projectors make a noise like this due to the fast modulation speed.

Also glad you are happy, projectors are way cooler than TVs IMO

Is it true this DLP projector has a filter? I don't think I've seen that in a DLP projector before, but I noticed that mentioned in the manual. Odd, as dust usually isn't an issue for DLP.

Probably just bad camerawork, but in that dark scene I like the look of the UHD65 better. The Sony is crushed and too contrasty.

Overall looks like an amazing showing vs a projector over 3x the price. I'm very excited about the UHZ65, too!!

no the projected image is 2m wide. My screen diagonal is 3,20m total. 2,8m wide.

I cant test it complete yet, because i have to deinstall my old unit first and have to build a new mount mechanism. Due the lack of horizontal shift of the UHD65 its a little challenge.

I´m very excited with the UHD65.
I already have a Epson5020UB (great projector!) but I want t jump to 4K in a cheap way, so far UHD65 is really the path.
Despite of the last comments, I will wait for more specialists reviews, above all because even a have a very controlled light room, I have a 150" screen. I guess is a tough challenge to UHD65.

Very creative mechanism!! Congrats!

I´ll follow you very close since you have a projection screen very similar in size to mine (3.8mts diagonal).
I´m pointing to the same great projector UHD65.

Thank you!

In your room, you are going to see lighter blacks during dark scenes with the UHD65 vs the Epson 5020UB.

On the flipside, the UHD65 will loads more detail and have much more pop for HDR.

So if you are willing to take the dark scene tradeoff it would be a great buy - my only piece of advice would be to buy the UHZ65 for its additional 800 lumens for more pop since you have a larger screen, though not entirely necessary.

Sorry Ronny, what distance you have the projector to screen?

I really like to get the UHZ65, but sadly I can´t afford it...

My setup is a livingroom space but can be light controlled as I have blackout curtains and I eqully game as well as watch tv/movies. I'm interested in the UHD65 but keep hearing about input lag however I game only on console and wonder if this issue with lag mostly applies to PC gamers who are more spec and latency obsessed than console gamers. Also, I don't often play multiplayer games, mostly campaign or co-op play. Is the lag so bad as to be noticeable within those parameters? And if I do decide to play multiplayer against other console gamers, will they have a serious upperhand on me due to that lag? If I have to go with the UHD60, I will but I'm hoping I fit in a sweet spot.

Actual the projector stand on my living room desk 2.5m away.

After final installation the distance would be 4.2m to the screen. My room have a total depth of 6.5m from the viewpoint.

Behind the movable screen stands a smaller 65" UHD4K Samsung TV - mice display from my viewpoint....totally hard to see some details.....with my old eyes

Total depth is 13m, i will project a image later that day to the other wall with 210" total capacity.

VMax2 100" inch screen and I am kind of regretting only going 100 although it is probably the right size for the space.

Below is the link to the mount I am using. It's rated for 40 pounds so it holds this projector without issue. Keep in mind that the mount does not come with the proper screws for the UHD60/65 so you will need to go to Lowe's or other hardware store to get the proper screws. The M6 1.00-25 screws worked for me. I filled in the unused threads with washers (see picture). The mount is made for a three hole configuration but I simply added one of the shorter support bars to use all four holes of the UHD60.

Below is the link to the HDMI cable I am using. I needed at least 30' of cable and this is the ONLY cable that would work properly for 4K HDR. Any copper cable I used over 25" would not work. I tried a cheaper fiber cable but that one didn't work either. Just be sure to follow the instructions for the cable. The ends must be connected correctly. One end must be on the projector and the other at the source material. It won't work the other way around.

So I calibrated my UHD65 today. In the reference mode by default the reds were a little low and the blues were a little high. Also the contrast was set a little too high, had to lower it. At contrast 0 even after calibration the reds were too low and couldn't keep up at 100% white. Attached are the PDF reports for before and after calibration if anyone is interested. I only did a greyscale calibration, will be doing a primary color calibration later.

That is good to know. Glad mine is not defective! Thank you!

Thank you for sharing.
I guess will be more useful if we have reference of the screen size, light conditions, throw distance, etc.
