Hey guys, just reading about these 2 projectors and I have a question. My current projector lens is about 4.5" from my ceiling and the top of my screen is about 1 foot from the ceiling. It is mounted on a shelf suspended from the ceiling so it is not upside down. I see there is a limited amount of vertical shift with these projectors so will this be an issue if I purchased one of these?

My current projector is a Panasonic AE-2000U.

Thanks

I have the same dimensions and the UHD60 has no issue for me. Mine is mounted upside down on the ceiling and I can adjust it up/down quite a bit.

The big "disadvantage" of the UHD60 is it's all manual, but since I have no need to ever adjust it I'd rather save the money on a feature I don't use.

There is a lot of "light pollution" on the ceiling, another thing I don't care about, but I've seen it mentioned in reviews. You can see it in the photo.

You need to mount UHD60 upside down from your ceiling or it won't work for you.

Can it be mounted upside down sitting on a shelf?

You can but you need something to support and level it since the top is not completely flat.

That does seem to be the case.

Alternatively, you can uncheck the option to allow HDR on the XBOX and then you can play the game in 4k and enable game mode on the projector.

Just to add my $0.02. I have the UHD65, and it is laying upside down on a shelf near the ceiling. I just folded up a piece of paper on each side of the projector to balance it, and I have no issues whatsoever. ~1500 hours put on the projector so far. Hope this helps!

A couple of questions for the experts here!

I will have just under 13' of throw. 12'10" or so. I think a UHD65 will make 120" at this distance... is that correct?

Are there any competitors in the same price range as the UHD65 (2200)? 2200 is just above my budget... so I wont be able to spend any more than that. Is there anything else anyone has seen that I should consider?

And here is hoping that a 30' HDMI cable can be made to work correctly!

When I got my Optoma 4k, I had to replace my 50' run and found a Dynex cable at Best Buy for under 40 bucks that was 18GBps and has worked flawlessly for me pushing all the 4k HDR from my Sony receiver and Xbox 1X as well as from my media center PC and Amazon Fire TV box.

May be easier to use one of the fiber solutions but since I already had the holes in the walls that fit the HDMI plug I found it easiest to just go this route again.

I have a new UHD65..I have a Apple 4ktv for my streaming hooked up to it along with a Sony 4k player...the disks HDR look amazing...as soon as I stream anything with the HDR turned on instant color banding. I have tried bypassing the receiver and plugging directly in. Same issues. As soon as I turn streaming HDR off looks great...help please from those who have found the fix. Thank u

Anyone have an idea when a replacement will come out for the UHD60? I will be pulling the trigger on a projector in the next month (likely UHD60), but could wait longer if something new was coming out.

If u plant to buy UHD60, you must pay attention for something.

1. Only 1 HDMI 2.0 --> It is not convenient when u Have PC, UHD Player and Console at the same time
2. No keystone adjustment, placement must be planned.
3. No 3D movie until you upgrade to latest firmware. I still not have change to test with it. If it have 3D , it 3D Active --> glass to watch movie is not cheap (40 usd/each).
4. It is BIGGGGG. Make sure u have table or place for it.

I believe the latest firmware is C13. You have to send it in to get upgraded. You can't do it at home. I think the process takes a few weeks. I'm sure there are some posts on this further up in the thread relating others experience.

I don't have the Apple TV so can't say for sure, but I resolved some similar issues when streaming 4k on my Panasonic 4k player by forcing 10 bit, and I think the chroma was either 4:2:2 or 4:2:0, but can't recall now.

Hello Folks,
Just bought a UHD 60 and wanted to thank this forum for everyone's advise and reviews. Wanted to join in the group by explaining my setup and hopefuly, you can recommend a better setup if I am missing/doing anything wrong.

-Optoma UHD60 connected to a Onkyo HTS-5800.
- To the Onkyo, i currently have my Lenovo T470s connected via HDMI.
- Using a 40 feet Blue Rigger HDMI cable
- I intend to get a Xbox one S for my gaming and the 4k Blue Ray player.
- I have the TV out from Onkyo connected to the HDCP port on the Optoma.

I'm not sure what else I can do based on my current needs.

Now, please advise if any of my setup is incorrect. Or any suggestions to better it. When displaying from laptop, i dont think I am truly getting the visual that i expected. Either the laptop is wrong or the HDMI cable is loosing its strength due to length. Any recommendations ?

Should the laptop be connected to HDMI or HDCP port ?

FYI the One S plays Blu-Ray in 4K but does not game in 4K. If you want to play games in 4K, you should get the One X.

I posted my settings in post #2629 of this thread. I chose them specifically to avoid the banding problems you are seeing. My streaming is via an Xbox One X.

I just purchased UHD 60 to replace my old Epson 8350. The picture is great, but it seems to me that the projector is making an annoying hum noise and I want to know if this is normal. I have tried making setting changes to see if they affect the sound. The only setting that I see that makes a difference in the sound is when I display the test pattern. When the test pattern is displayed, the projector is nice and quiet. I talked with optoma and they said the difference in sound is the actuator is turned off when test pattern is displayed. I still think sound is excessive when actuator is on and would like to get input from UHD 60 owners.

Here is a link to the video:

Thanks.

HDMI vs HDCP

Any recommendations on what devices or when should i connect to HDMI and when to HDCP. ? I currently have a laptop and eventually will get a XBOX one S. Will be adding a chromecast too but that would go into the Onkyp HTR494 (from my hts5800)
