Should be fine but I have heard some of the newer models having issues with atmos and Xbox one, not sure if they fixed that.

Other than setting HDR to "Auto", no.

Oh crap, you returned 4 projectors!?

Please recommend some good ceiling mount for HT 3550. I have a cheap one and its not letting me setup things perfectly with the screen. What is everyone using for mounting?

No, I've owned 4 different BenQ models over the years, hence "loyal customer".

Anyways, I just got the new replacement today. Made on Sept 2019. So should be g2g I hope.

This is what I have. I recommended it to my cousin for his BenQ PJ and he loves it.

This is a low profile mount if your ceiling is low...

I'm also looking for a ceiling mount but I need about as low profile as you can get.

This is only my second day with this projector and love it BUT I'm a little confused about the HDR implementation. Some movies it looks good and other look way blowout (Gemini Man) for example. Any tips or tweaks on how to make HDR more watchable or should I just disable the HDR on the movies its looks bad on?

Where did you buy that? I looked on Amazon and all pretty much look to be magnetic.

i just received my benq but i cant get it to project in border

i just received the benq ht3550 ( w2700)

picture quality is great however what is not so great, is that for the life of me i just cant get the projector project within the border. i already turned the whole wheel down to get it fit. but still it project around the border as you can see in the test screen picture. on the left size you can see the projected picture falls over the left border. what do i do wrong here?

also at startup the picture was actually upside down. so then by accident i chose Rear Ceiling instead of front ceiling. however i thought in the menu i could change this later on. and yes i could do it, but if i do, then the picture gets mirrored horizontal. also there is now way to do a hard reset to fix this. so now i am stuck forever as rear ceiling?

then i checked in the menu if i could change the size of the picture. but i can not. only keystone.

if check the table in the manual i have 120 inch diagonal screen. i checked how far the projector is and i sit around 157 inches 4000mm away from the screen.

i really dont understand it. because with the benq w1070 before i never had this problem. do i do something wrong?

Not sure if it will help but there is a physical vertical adjustment knob that if you adjust it back and forth it sometimes frees/allows the physical zoom knob to have more range. Again, not sure if it will work also but there are a few places on the menu that allows you to “reset to default/factory” and could get your image (back projection) back to normal.

Did you try updating the firmware to 1.05?...that might help.

You need to use a 3.0 usb thumb drive or else it won't work.

i tried a usb 3.0 usbstick. i tried a 3.0 harddisk. does not work. both are exfat formatted though. is that a problem?

the benq manual does not do say anything about what formats it can read. ntfs, fat32, exfat, ext4 etc?

i also tried the usbstick in the mediaplayer port also did not work.

also the screen is still beyond the borders. played around with keystone does not work. also number on the screen are now being devided, same for the arrow. like its split in half.

factory reset did not work. sure i can change the language but it wont do the step before were you see the 4 pictures. for rear ceiling. front ceiling, table etc.

anybody any ideas, please let me know thanks. for sure will monday call benq to ask if they can help me as well. maybe i have a bad unit . i dont know.

Your projector is not square with your screen.
Bigger picture showing all 4 corners would help.

1. Disable the auto keystone to make sure you’re projecting a square image.
2. Make sure your projector is level. This is a bit tough with the Ht3550 as the case has a bit of a slant.
3. Determine if your projector is centered on your screen. The HT3550 has no horizontal adjustment so the lens needs to be dead center.
4. Lens shift and zoom. The Ht3550 has limited vertical lens shift but it should be enough to get a square image. Worst case you may need to adjust the height of your mount or re-enable keystone. If you do, however, DON’T use the auto keystone just adjust it yourself manually. IMO, Auto keystone is for quick and dirty setups not for permanent installation.
5. If all else fails check your screen/wall. My wall is not perfectly straight which caused my screen to be not perfectly perpendicular to the projector. I was able to adjust this at the screen by carefully adjusting the mounting screws but, honestly, this was more to satisfy my OCD than really improve the picture. The reason for buying a screen with a border is to projector just slightly into the border to hide a little bit of mounting sloppiness.

What to do if you find yourself stuck with no hope of rescue:
Consider yourself lucky that life has been good to you so far. Alternatively, if life hasn't been good to you so far, which given your present circumstances seems to be more likely, consider yourself lucky that it won't be troubling you much longer...

Reformat to fat32. And make sure you are using the USB 3.0 port.

Alright, so replacement unit appears to be off to a great start. First and foremost: the fan. So much quieter. No more of the intermittent whoo sound. Next, projector appears to be brighter and colors richer - most importantly even on eco lamp setting. The only thing I noticed that I hadn't seen in a while is the Iris pumping on medium or higher. I remember seeing it initially when I got the pj, but either my eyes got adjusted to it or the just quit being as drastic after the unit broke? Anyone else care to chime on why I'm seeing it all of a sudden again on this new unit?

When the Auto Iris shifts, you can see an on-screen effect of the scene darkening or lightening akin to breathing(inhale and exhale is how I describe it) several times in rapid fashion. The more aggressive(high) the auto iris is, the more noticeable this effect tends to be in scenes that transition from light to dark or vice versa.

The more aggressive(high) the auto iris is, the more noticeable this effect tends to be in scenes that transition from light to dark or vice versa.
While I don't own the 3550, I have the 5550 and there is variation by unit. My launch unit was replaced after a dead pixel and the Iris was hardly noticable in the brand new replacement.

Unfortunately, that unit also had a dead pixel far outside of the image area and appeared on my wall, so I rec'd another unit that had performance similar to my 1st.

I have my iris on high also and notice the effect to some extent that you talk about . Have you updated the firmware yet?

I have only been using this projector for a few days. Is it just me but I think the the pic looks best with both BC and WCG turned off and the lamp in eco mode. I think I get the best blacks and most natural colors. In HDR I find putting it in wcg mode the colors are so dull to the point that I think it is malfunctioning. Is this normal or do I have an issue with my unit? Hopefully the attached pics show what I'm seeing. I am on the latest firmware.

I do see the same thing. I didn't notice this before I updated the firmware.
