Thanks for sharing. I didn’t see that behavior on screen with mine.

This is good to know I think, hopefully that means mine is a fluke of some sort, though Sage did say he could see something like that on his but said it wasn't as bad when I pointed him to that scene which seems to be a bit of a worst case scenario for that behavior.

The 4010 seems like a worthy competitor to the 3550, easily beating it in areas such as lag, contrast, and placement. Decisions, decisions....
Last week I visited one of our local AV store. They had 4010 playing in a living room setting with an ALR screen. It looked perfect to me with light. I wish 4010 would come down in price couple of hundred more so then it will become a direct competitor to HT3550.

It appears the remote has two different buttons for power, one for on and one for off. I have always mapped the on/off button to a single on/off button on my main remote so I do not have to keep this one out and about just to turn on the projector. I then use CEC to turn on my AVR.

Is it possible to only use the on button (for example) to turn the projector on and off?

Hi, chhanthonyi,

Would you mind to show following set of data
1. 709 post cal
2. data of wide gamut w/o engaging HDR. (means native color gamut)
3. data of wide gamut HDR engaged

I believe the CMS of W2700 can achieve better result. I got several calibration experiences for HDR pj such as JVC 550/ 790/ 990/ UHZ68/UHD68. My experiences told better to cal the best result of 709 and then check the result of newer format.

By the way, can it by pass HDR mode from player, just let HT3550 do the HDR?

Thanks
Hope can do calibration this weekend and will report asap.

I have not noticed any audio delay with the motion enhancer off, with it on I noticed the lip sync was a little off and would have had to adjust the delay in my amp to match.

In the Cine4Home review I noticed he said this about the iris: "The system works well overall and improves the black level significantly, but occasionally caused subtle jumps in brightness in our test scenes." That sounds a little bit like the flicker I've described on mine, though maybe not as bad as what I saw, because I think he would have emphasized it more if so.

Eh-- actually what I said was: "Not sure if it's as bad as what you're seeing."

That scene of the good place you sent me is probably the best example I've seen of the issue. There is some good news though-- I mentioned you in a comment over in my review thread. Btw, I'm trying to keep just review stuff over there as this thread moves so fast information gets buried quickly.

Yes it sure does. Thanks, sorry I was trying to paraphrase what you said from memory. I'm glad they recognized that problem. If that fix requires the unit to be sent back that's unfortunate but will definitely be worth it.

Problem solved, the Chroma Subsampling in UB900 should be set 4K (50/60) 4:4:4 instead of 4K (50/60) 4:2:0

I have calibrated over 20+ HDR projectors including Sony W750 and JVC Z1, I would say the HDR performance of W2700 is incredible for this price range even double of it.

Not much difference in picture quality. With the wide color feature off and the lamp in normal the HT3550 is bright enough to compete with some ambient light. In the dark you’ll only need eco.

With the wide color filter engaged you really need to run the projector in normal to get sufficient light output. That said, BenQ is tweaking this particular feature based on early feedback. I’m in New York now and last night they demonstrated an HT3550 running in wide color mode that was powering a 120” screen with some ambient light present. They’ve tweaked the firmware to squeeze more output out of the wide color mode. It looked good in the demonstration but I’ll reserve my final opinions until I can get this firmware running on my sample. I quite like the wide color mode right now but I also realize that it’s lowered output runs contrary to the trend of larger and brighter screens. Adjusting this feature means more people will be able to take advantage of it.

Probably not. You can look online to see if there is a power toggle command available, but most universal remotes support macros and the power on command is linked to the source selection. So, you press 'blu-ray' and it turns on the AVR and the projector, then switches the AVR to the proper input. The power button on the remote is STRICTLY used to turn the system off. That way you get consistent reliability from the remote and you don't use power toggles for any equipment as things will get out of sync.

My guess is that is a placeholder since they don't know when they will ship with the lens QA issues. I emailed BenQ this morning inquiring since I didn't receive any official information with the ship date slipping. I was told they would have more information Monday and are "hoping" to ship the first week of April.

Like I told them however, I'm glad this slipped as BenQ isn't shipping a half baked product. Yes, we all want it but better to be done right the first time so ship it when it is ready as far as I'm concerned.

AVR - Denon AVR-X4300H & NAD C 375BEE
Fronts - Magnepan MG12/QR / Center - Magnepan MGCC2

PRJ - BenQ HT3550 / SCN - SilverTicket STR-16992
Sources - Switch/PS4/Sony UBP-X800/Thorens TD166 MKII/Austin Audioworks Black Swan

I don’t mind the wait. Nothing wrong with waiting while they work out the kinks. I’ll just “slum it” with the OLED.

@sage11x , @scottyroo ,

Can you tell me if the projector can play 4K MKV files in H265 format? The manual only mentions H264. Also have either of you heard the price of replacement bulbs yet?

Can you send me a file? I’ll try it for you.

I’ll ask about the lamp. I wanna say it was $250 but I could be wrong.

Also: did you ever try out those chroma test patterns with the XBOX One X?

I’ll ask about the lamp. I wanna say it was $250 but I could be wrong.

Also: did you ever try out those chroma test patterns with the XBOX One X?
I'll DM you a link to a test file. I'll check out those chroma test patterns shortly as well.

Can you tell me if the projector can play 4K MKV files in H265 format? The manual only mentions H264. Also have either of you heard the price of replacement bulbs yet?
The only file I had like that was a standard def MKV HEVC file. It played, but there were subtitles I couldn't figure out how to get rid of. Hopefully Sage can test a HD or UHD file for you.

How is the HDR image qualty in ECO mode vs Normal?

Would be nice to see comparison images in these modes

Last night I turn wide color mode ON with color enchancer set to 2 and fresh tone 1 in normal mode, the brightness is more acceptable in my 126" screen and the color is very rich.

Probably a dumb question since the 3550 isn’t out yet but how would it compare to the tk800? What improvements would I see over the current tk800? My room is able to be completely dark but sometimes keep the door open for the kids
