Messing with it some more, on the boots where the XPR component noise stops and starts, toggling Silence mode on and back off fixes it for that boot and makes the noise constant as it should be.

So I now have "fixes" for every persistent problem I've encountered: the above, rebooting on the ~1/5th of boots where the colors go all wonky, and turning off Dynamic Iris to stop the flickering. Everything else I've run into only happened once or twice and never again.

I've still got a bum fan that clicks when the projector starts up or shuts down or when I change lamp modes (which I never do), but that only lasts maybe less than a minute and is the least of my worries. I'll probably still get it RMA'd before the warranty is up, just to be safe, but fingers crossed that BenQ can resolve the other stuff via firmware.

Super disappointed....

Thanks!
I had the exact same situation. Couldn't get anywhere via chat or talking to the first person on the phone. Asked for a supervisor and said that this was a stupid waste of time considering the fact that the product was $1499 on their site when my item shipped this morning. After an hour of back and forth I was issued a "one time" refund of $401.85--leaving me at $1,500.89 and I don't have to send back mine when it gets here Wednesday.

I think the initial loss of brightness was turning me off from it over the last week I've had this projector. However, forcing myself to use WCG through our double feature I have to say that once used to it, I think it looks amazing! I went back and watched in HDR with it turned off and it looks over bright and washed out now lol. I've also been happily surprised with the black levels the 3550 achieves in my little theater room compared to the 2050 it replaced. Sci-fi movies have shown so much benefit in this regard! I suppose I'm glad I already watched A Quiet Place, because that might not fair as well with the louder fan noise haha. With my front row being right at the limit for 1080p (it's a small room, so these two are my "IMAX" seats) I am certainly seeing the benefits of the increased resolution as well. The little bugs here and there are just minor annoyances thus far and hopefully things a firmware update will take care of over time. I've decided to purchase 4K UHD discs only going forward (vs. upgrading my entire library yikes!) and do like that, by and large, I'm getting Atmos tracks on all my new movies. Some studios have been holding out on us lowly bluray collectors (looking at you Disney/Marvel/Lucasfilm!). I have to say, over all, I am quite satisfied with this purchase and hope that BenQ keeps working to get all the little things up to snuff this year... Their track record seems to indicate they will not let us down.
Count me in as someone who also really likes the WCG filter. I'm projecting onto a relatively small 106" screen, so maybe that's part of it, but I feel the hit in brightness is slight, and the picture is still PLENTY bright.

Also, what settings did you end up with on your UB900? The NF and Prime apps seem to only do 1080p on it while the player is obviously 4K capable. I messed around with various settings but eventually did a factory reset on it and left everything on default (except audio at 10bit versus 12 bit). I tested both cables by forcing the UB900 to 4K mode which both cables could do but only the monoprice (newer and shorter length) would allow me to force the setting to (4:4:4) while the mediabridge would tap out at 4:2:2 and if it would allow me to occasionally set 4:4:4, the projector would clip audio every 10 seconds and video go in and out.
Bottom line, I can at least trust my shorter cable now for full 4K fidelity but to avoid the handshake issue, I just left all my settings in UB900 to auto - (My guess is that forcing the 4K setting on the UB900 takes another min or two before it realizes that the NF/Prime apps are 1080P. No handshake issues when playing a UHD movie, the projector and UB900 sync fairly quickly).
W2700 can accept 4K 24P 4:4:4 12 bits or 4K 60P 4:2:2 12 bit from UB900, I will take some photos of my setting share here tonight.

For those of you who are lucky enough to already own this Benq w2700 what is your advice for compatible 3D glasses ?

Also what is your general feedback about watching 3D movies with this PJ ?

Thanks !

Received my HT3550 today and have everything hooked up! I am having some issues as a lot of people have reported.

1) My projector is ceiling mounted over the couch. Every single time I boot the projector up, it reverts to the Front setting instead of Front Ceiling.... and image is upside down. Do I really need to reset this every time I turn on the projector?

2) Keystone seems to revert back to default as well upon restart.

3) Xbox One X and ROKU Ultra HD - Both allow me to set the output to 4K 60Hz... but both systems tell me the projector does not support HDR10. Is there a setting I am missing for this? I have tried two different HDMI cables with the same result.

EDIT: Both of my long run cables are the issue. I tried hooking each source directly to the projector with a 6-foot cable and full 4K 60hz, HDR, etc. Now looking for advice, need a solid cable in the 25-35 ft range! Picture looks great though right now, just want to experience HDR since the projector can do it.

If anyone has advice for these issues would be greatly appreciated!

-Scott

p.s. Fan Noise in ECO mode does not seem much louder than my old W1070, I was worried about this but all good here.

.

I'm unsure why but after the first day both of these issues went away for me. I don't recall doing anything for this to happen either and it hasn't happened since. Hope you have the same luck. Enjoy!

BestBuy gave me the price match and had it delivered the 3550 and TK800M. I'll be setting up the 3550 tonight and if all goes well, will be returning the TK.

I am using a 25’ certified 4K cable from Monoprice that I purchased at Amazon. No issues whatsoever with the cable so far.

I haven't seen these issues since day 1 either. As for HDR10, the only time mine is greyed out in the projector setting is when I hook up 1080 sources.

Thank you. The only time I get BT2020, WCG on or off option is when I play UHD disc. The NF and Prime apps seem to default to rec.709 for me even with 4K material (HDR is greyed out in the projector setting). Because this could be a UB900 issue, I don't want to turn this into the UB900 thread so please pm me if more appropriate.

No, the standard wire Monoprice 4K certified cable which retails around $30.00 for the 25’ length. For that price I figured I’d give it a try and if it glitched I would step up to the RUIPRO fiber. The Monoprice has performed well, so far.

Bonjour, just as Grégory has indicated in his French review you'll be needing "DLP Link" glasses. IMHO it would be best to search corresponding 3D threads for suitable DLP Link glasses. AFAIK the BenQs do not support 3D-RF glasses, so it's only DLP Link.

Yeah.. At first they have 15 available. I think they did not really have 15 but had 8 and had 7 on back order from BenQ... so he got one and 7 other lucky people. When I ordered yesterday the first shipment was gone and they are waiting for the 2nd from BenQ to ship mine.... did say I would get by Apr 26th yesterday and 'in stock' but now when I check order status says 'out of stock', but website still says if ordered today receive by Apr 26th... so lets hope they get the 2nd shipment.... if I do not get shipping confirmation next week I may cancel...

Not sure where you are looking but keep in mind that jblade44 and others are talking about Best Buy Canada ... still hasn't gone live on Best Buy US yet ... at least to my knowledge, as someone who checks multiple times daily.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one...

What to do if you find yourself stuck with no hope of rescue:
Consider yourself lucky that life has been good to you so far. Alternatively, if life hasn't been good to you so far, which given your present circumstances seems to be more likely, consider yourself lucky that it won't be troubling you much longer...

UGHH. Amazon is killing me. Ordered back in March. Still no shipment notification!
I see at least one of two people on this forum have received from Amazon already but it looks like they ordered back in February. Guess I just need to be patient. Not one of my strengths.

I ordered in late February and their ship date kept sliding to the right, so I jumped in on BenQ Direct and was able to snag one from them. Watch their site like a hawk and you can probably get the hook up. I see they just sold a batch that were guaranteed to ship yesterday. Lately Amazon's site has been saying ships in 1-2 months and today there is nothing, just listed as unavailable. Their customer "service" was beyond useless any time I reached out about my order.

Ok thanks, I was just wondering if one brand was better than another one, if some are less darker... But you're right I will search thru the 3D threads instead
