I don't have previous units to compare what is better. I am in Taiwan and my options differ a bit on yours in the US.

But I will share my experience on this from a newbie's point of view. You can ask me details later on and I will try to answer as best as I can.

First of all, I don't have a screen. I project on a not so white wall, with imperfections, so the projector can definitely look better with the proper screen and with better control of the light. Living room setup definitely not ideal for projector use. But I cant justify buying a very expensive OLED TV at the moment to enjoy a big screen experience.

The OS is chinese but I can read it with some help from Google translate. The menu is relatively simple and adjustments for picture quality is very simplified. Contrast, brightness, saturation, sharpness, light brightness level. So may not be enough for people who wants more control. I just don't have enough experience on the higher end models of UST projectors to say how it compares. But from what I was expecting going into this, it was okay and the picture is nice and bright. But lots of you guys will invest on a screen with controlled light in your rooms, so I am sure your experience with the S3 will be a lot better than mine.

Noise is just noticeable during startup. It gets a bit hot when running but I guess at a normal level, as all projectors do. Brightness is enough wherein the picture is watchable during daytime viewing, but I did change the curtains to blackout ones which helps. During night viewing, it gets bright. I even adjusted the brightness down a bit as it gets a bit uncomfortable to the eyes. Voltage is 110 to 224 volts so we are all covered on this one.

Source material really matters so I really haven't tested the real capabilities of the S3 as I watch 720p or 1080p downloaded movies most of the time. I tried several blu-ray movies on my playstation and it looked nice. Haven't tried 4K yet. Considering Netflix at the moment.

Sound is okay with some bass but not the punchy, crisp bass. More on a slightly muddled bass but acceptable for a built in speaker in a relatively small box. You need to invest on a speaker system for movies. Like I said in the previous post, input lag is very minimal from what I played. Very playable, but I need to try FPS games first to further comment of this.

Hope this helps.
Thank you for your input. I plan on getting one in the near future as its almost twice as bright as the other out there. I do have a ALR screen, so it should be safe for me.

I have the Lune4K that comes with a bluetooth remote. It allows access to the engineering menu, so fine calibration is possible if you know what you're doing. I don't use the built-in speakers, but they are quite decent.

All publicly available information suggest the S3 (and the Lun4K Pro) could be just a repackaging of the U1, perhaps using slightly better parts together with some bug fix. Another concern is lack of HLG support, the broadcast format used by the newly launched CCTV4K channel. BenQ seems to be the only one offering HLG support at the moment, but a separate room is needed for setting up these non UST models. Still waiting for the perfect one to come along....

I will try to post some pictures or videos when I have the time. But no screen, just a not so white wall.

Looking forward to reading your S3 review.

If it's not too much of a bother, would you keep an eye on the following:

1. Any HLG support, samples are now available on some youtube channels such as Japan Geographic:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoq...fYnAk2g/videos

2. How well it resolves alternate pixel test patterns such as this:
http://www.walvisions.com/PattPages/...ng_pixels.html

3. If HDR can be turned off independently of HDMI2.0.

Many thanks and best regards,

I just ordered on from Baggood. Says it will be here within 3 weeks. I will report back. I have the Xiaomi white model, so this should be an upgrade

As Sir Humphrey would put it, that is a courageous decision.

I've had the JMGO S3 for a week now, the package arrived in good condition, no problems. I got the Chinese model, and so far I am impressed on how bright it is. Coming from the 1700 lumens Xiaomi, this this is a light cannon. And for the lumens, its almost silent. But it is a bigger machine, so you will notice the difference there. Not much picture control, but decent enough. I already had two software updates, maybe soon they will add more options. One thing do miss is the Keystone feature, it was hell to get it centered, and find out today that my screen wasnt completely flat on the wall, so that didnt help. I currently have the 90" ALR Elite screen and works wonder. The remote could be better, feels kind cheap for such expensive machine. Love the sliding cover. The gold color is growing on me lol. I will keep you guys updated.
