I say you chose wisely. I imagine you're going to be very happy with your new projector.

Thanks! I luv Optoma 4k (not so much 1080 p) but when you are addicted to 4k/UHD and that port stops working within weeks in two separate units...what choice I have?

After several days of playing with the new 3550 it no longer illuminates. It’s been taking longer to start up each day often 5-10 minutes but now nothing. The green light indicating normal operation is on but the bulb itself isn’t. I can probably open the bulb compartment to possibly tighten the bulb but that might violate the “in new condition” stipulation for Amazon returns.

Deleted some negative observations about the 3550 since I obviously received a defective unit.

What skylar said.

The thing about tech is it’s constantly leapfrogging the prior generation hardware. So, yeah, the HT3550 is a big improvement over the HT2550 but so too will the next projector that is introduced after the HT3550.

If the bulb wouldn't be installed properly, I'm pretty sure an error would pop up(LED light error).
I would return it.

Exactly what I was thinking. It's boxed and headed to Amazon today. Ugh. Now I'll probably just hold out for the Optoma P1 to hit the streets along with a few initial reviews.

If you’re in the return window I might just swap it out. If not I’d contact BenQ— it has a 3 year warranty.

Edit: just saw your post above. Sorry for the confusion.

Hey folks, a quick heads up to anyone who is in the market for one of BenQ’s projectors:
As many of you know there will be a 10% tariff imposed on projectors starting 9/1/2019. My contact at BenQ has assured me they are working hard to make sure they minimize the impact these tariffs will have on their customers but that we should expect a price increase sometime in the next 30-90 days.

If you’re on the fence about jumping in this might be a good time to get off that fence.

HT3550 Ceiling Mount Help

Good Evening,

Today I just received my HT3550 and the following ceiling mount (I can't post links or pictures because I just joined): VIVO Universal Adjustable White Ceiling Projector | Projection Mount Extending Arms Mounting Bracket (MOUNT-VP01W)

Unfortunately the mount does not fit the projector. Can anyone link me to a mount they are using / that works for the HT3550? I would also love to see pictures of your ceiling mounted HT3550.

Thank you!

In what way doesn't it fit? I used a nearly identical mount with my W1070.

The bracket wouldn't fit on the hole nearest to the lens on the left side. There is a raised section in the chassis and I can't articulate the arm in the right direction for it to fit.

This video at 6:08/11:14 shows a similar mount and it shows the use of spacers between the arms and the mounting hole:

I recall having to do some mental gymnastics, but I suspect that your mount will work if you take a 2nd look. You may have to detach and re-position the arms.

Hmmm...IIRC, I actually had to drill another hole in one the arms to allow that arm to attached to the mount, to get it to fit one of my projectors.

Finally BenQ is up and running with X6500H. Happy but cautious.

Question: Power Indicator is magenta/orange after turning off Nothing in Temp /Lamp (as expected), however the On/Off switch stays Green , is it normal?

This worked , but has to be extended a lot compared to Optoma

I ran into a similar issue. The raised section is kind of a pain in the butt. A quick trip to the hard ware store for some longer screws and washers/spacers was the solution for me.
