First projector and screen, advice

I’m shopping for my first projector and screen for my living room. It is not light controlled so there will be times watching movies in daylight with blinds reducing light levels but nowhere near dark.

I’m considering the Epson 2150; it’s about as much as I’m willing to spend and seems well regarded for brightness. I’m leaning towards this over the BenQ 2050 for this reason along with the MUCH cheaper bulbs. Any others I should consider?

For screen, I’ll most likely get the Elite 100” for $86 on Amazon just becuz it’s dirt cheap. I need a retractable screen and, due to cost, not willing to spend on a tab tensioned model.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions.

Your environment sounds a lot like mine and the 2150 should fit your needs. For the screen, I recommend the Homegear 110”. You can get it cheap and it is motorized.

Here are some pictures with the 2150 in Eco mode at 5pm in south Texas.

Good Luck!

A refurbished Epson 3100 from Epson's web sight might be a better option for about the same price as a new 2150. The 3100/3700 are the brightest projectors in this class, have fairly inexpensive lamps but not as cheap as the 2150 and have lots of lens shift for much easer placement flexibility.

A grey or ALR screen would help.
Here is a thread on a similar setup: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/23-sc...ey-screen.html
