Epson Projector Screen blacks out intermittently

I have a brand new Epson 4050 4K projector. Unfortunately, I am experiencing intermittent "blacking" of the screen. The external audio plays perfectly and the screen blacks out last 5-10 seconds. This occurs infrequently on both DVD's and streaming (Aapletv). If I rewind the DVD the screen blackout doesn't occur, so not the DVD thats causing this. There is no consistency to when this occurs, sometimes never and sometimes once or twice during a 2 hr sitting.

I have the projector connected with a HDMI cable.

Any suggestions how to fix this?

Much appreciated.

Sounds (entirely) like your HDMI cable.

Are you using an A/V receiver between your sources and the projector?
Have you tested using a short 6' or less HDMI cable with the sources right near your projector?

In almost all these cases, there is a problem with the HDMI cable in use.

Doesn’t seem at all the way a projector responds to an overheating situation.
