Unhappy DLP - Sharp Note Vision XR-10S-L

I have bought an old DLP(Sharp Xr-10s-l) projector in a scrapyard and I felt like repairing it. I have gone through the service manual and found that most of the parts are intact except for the color wheel. My question is, Can the DLP projectors start without a color wheel?

My first projector many moons ago was the XR10X and it was an amazing projector back then, in fact I still have it on the shelf in working order as something to pull out from time to time and watch something out in the garage.

It has about zero real value in today’s world so I wouldn’t invest too much in fixing yours.

As to running without a color wheel I’m far from an expert, but I have heard of people removing a broken wheel but leaving the motor to run and getting a kind of B&W picture. If you are just playing around try it and see.
