The W2700 is a very different projector and is similar to the UHD/40/51/51A/. The UHD52ALV would be comparable to the TK850/TK800M.

Ok. Thanks and sorry for my english... I have actually a optoma HD 25. I use it with the himedia Q10 pro, to watch movies in my living room. A Big room, with white walls... Not really good for light, but it is a true pleasure nevertheless for us.
To watch movies, in a non specific cinéma room, which for you is recomended between this 2 models? (Benq 2700 and optoma uhd52alv)
I have a base of 125inch, and the distance between vp and screen is 450 inch.
Thanks for your advoise.

Do you mean a screen width of 125in or screen diagonal of 125in? If you mean screen width, then I'd suggest the UHD52ALV or TK800M.

Also 450in = 37.5ft (~11.5m), and that doesn't seem correct.

Lol. I made a mistake.
I mean 3,20 mètres of screen width, and the vp to screen is 4 mètres. Thanks.

OK. So then I'd suggest looking at the UHD52ALV or the TK850. The TK800M cannot produce a 3.2m image width from 4m:

https://www.projectorcentral.com/Ben...ulator-pro.htm

but the UHD52ALV can:

https://www.projectorcentral.com/Opt...ulator-pro.htm

and I don't think the W2700 is quite bright enough for that screen size. The UHD40/51/51A is probably bright enough as is the W1720, but it would have to project from 4.1m to produce a 3.2m image width.

Thank you for you help👍👍
The distance between screen and vp is not a problem. I can change it if i need to. So the question is more on the quality between uhd52 alv and BenQ w2700, W1720, or optoma uhd 51... for movies only. On a 3,20 metres screen...
Thanks

I would probably pick the UHD51 but the W1720 got some really good reviews. This video compares the UHD50 and W1700:

I really like the very low acoustic noise of the UHD 50 series.

The UHD52ALV will probably sacrifice some colour accuracy for higher brightness, but extra brightness is nice for enhanced HDR effect. There was a recent review of the TK850 here and it looks very impressive:

black screen

does any body know if the UHD52ALV suffers the same problem as the optoma uhd 40 meaning does half the screen go black now and then , only way to get full screen back is to restart the projector
thank you

That sounds like a cable issue and/or a fault in the source or projector.

Does anybody know why a ps4.pro won't work with the HDMI 4K input on the back of the projector (Reciever to projector)? It works with the first HDMI input and it works when I hook the ps4.pro directly to the projector using the HDMI 4K input.

Thanks a lot.
Yes, the tk850 seems to be incredible too...
It is so hard to make a choice...
I will be patient and have a reflection on uhd 52, or tk850, or BenQ 1720.

Your receiver may not be able to pass the full 18gbps required for some 4K HDR signals and/or it may have HDCP 2.2 incompatibility issues.

Also you probably have a UHD40 or UHD50 (not UHD52ALV) as they only have a single 4K HDCP2.2 HDMI port?

So far Ive been unable to get 4k60 out of my tivo bolt but it seems to work fine with an apple tv4k. Im running a fiber hdmi directly from the source to the projector. It seems the uhd52alv has some edid handshake issues. My colors are very off at 4k and the entire image becomes purple with hdr. Some sources like apple tv work fine but others such as tivo bolt do not. both tivo and optoma have said they are working on it but so far not much progress after a month of phone calls.

What does the projector report as the incoming signal from the Tivo?

Menu->info-> (may have scroll down in the info menu).

When viewing sdr it reports bt2020 and the projector seems to be trying to use yuv16-255, which looks wrong but almost ok? when I change the projector to yuv0-255 it turns purple just like when i try to stream hdr content. Tivo says its a optoma problem, optoma hasnt had any suggestions other than they are looking into it. Right now my company owns 4 optoma projectors (and a few christies) but Im wishing I had picked a benq instead.

Yes, so it looks like a mismatch somehow between the projector and the Tivo. You might try using different colour gamuts (HDTV, Cinema, etc)

Thanks for thinking about it but color gamuts do nothing for the actual color setup. they are just presets of how the color should look good. Theres an edid problem that neither optoma or tivo is acknowledging and is kinda blaming the other which is understandable since the tivo works with other tvs and the projector works with other sources but its still frustrating and making me wish I had considered buying a benq at this point.

after a month of phone calls and struggling with tivo (yeah, terrible company imo) i finally got through to an engineer at tivo who told me that the hdcp handshake on a tivo lasts longer and some displays fall just under the hdcp handshake timeframe (100ms) so do not negotiate correctly. I ended up borrowing a $300 hdcp stripper from another install company and it fixed the problem, image defaulted to 2160p and with a bit of further color adjustment which was different than the 1080p settings to get it right, Im finding the picture to look really great. Optoma has agreed to look into the hdcp programming (they have been rather helpful) and see if theres a solution so that other users wont find the same issue.
